Pregnant with IUD??

Hi Ladies (-: Its been a while since I last visited, but here I am! Anyway, I had twins a little over a year ago and had an iud implanted shortly after to prevent pregnancy. One of my girls (identicals) passed so hubby does not want to get pregnant again out of fear and hurt. Last few days I've had dizzy spells, hot flashes, and just today I feel like vomitting. Anyone eles have stories like this while having an iud? Any pregnancies??

TIA

So sorry for your loss.  I've never had an iud and don't know anyone who did so I don't have anything to offer.  I hope you start feeling better soon.

You would probably know your own pregnancy symptoms best, since you have been pregnant before.

If you think you are having pregnancy symptoms, you need to get checked out ASAP.  From this page:

"If pregnancy occurs, it is important to remove the IUD immediately (that day). The normal spontaneous miscarriage rate is about 18-20%. For women who conceive despite an IUD, the miscarriage rate is about 25% when the IUD is removed immediately. If the IUD is left in place, the miscarriage rate increases to about 50%, and many of those are septic mid-trimester losses which are particularly unpleasant and which are associated with subsequent infertility in some cases."

Is it a copper IUD? Could you be allergic to copper?

That is if you aren't pregnant. I've had my copper IUD for 10 years (will be changing it this fall) and had no issues.

JJWC my XStep-Daughter had issues with her IUD the hormones were messing with her, and causing unusual symptoms she talked to her doc and they ran tests and ended up having to remove it because it was too strong.  That is all I know about them I have not ever had one.

I would get in to your OB/GYN just to have things checked out.  Better to be safe than sorry, and pregnancy tests have been known to show false negatives from time to time.

    Hope you feel better soon!

I got rid of my Mirena due to issues with it! I totally thought I was pregnant and when I researched it there are thousands of other women having the same issues. I was having feelings of letdown in my breasts even. It was crazy. I got rid of it and haven't had any issues since. Yes, it's common unfortunately.

    Sorry for your loss.

I had a Mirena in for roughly 3 years, then had it removed because I needed a full hysterectomy (not due to anything regarding the IUD). I have no experience on getting pregnant while having it in, but I didn't have periods while on it, so it was difficult to know whether I was pg or not every month.

I've heard stories regarding having it removed immediately after finding out you are pg, but I think this is a question for your OBGYN.

    I hope everything works out!
