New to the board

Hi ladies!  I have been on the knot for some time now and just discovered this board.  This is our 2nd wedding for both.  My husband passed away 3 years ago so it wasn't like a failed marriage. But I am so blessed to have found my soul mate.  We are getting married on August 7th.  I am so happy to have found you girls.  The other boards sometimes make me laugh (to myself about the selfish and silly things girls post)  I was probably the same way 16 years ago, but I doubt it (LOL).  There are some really evil girls out there.  I feel safe now!!!

I think the women here tend to be a lot calmer than the young brides on some of the other boards. In my case,  I was married for nearly twenty years before, so I have a good appreciation of how much more important the marriage is than the wedding.  In spite of a bunch of little things going wrong at our wedding, I see the day as having been perfect--because I am finally married to the woman I love.

I have found this board to be a good resource, esp. as someone who knows the wedding is fun, with planning that can become overwhelming, but really is just a blip compared to the marriage ahead.  This will be my second marriage and my fiance's third.  Our wedding will be in July 2011.  

One of the things I enjoy most about this board is that, when I mention all of the things we won't do/get/buy for the ceremony, the people on this board actually get it.

Welcome and Congratulations!  I am Chelsey, this is my 2nd time, my FIs first.  Our wedding is 9/19.  I agree with pp about everything.  I like to come here when the other boards are crazy and annoying.

Welcome Suzie! This is my second wedding, FI's first. and while I'm still a baby by most standards (24) I don't think I relate to most of the posters on other boards either. I get the feeling that the women here, while most of us weren't "sucessful" in previous marriages, seem to focus on the real meaning of a wedding and marriage more than most of the first-timers.

Welcome Suzie and congrats on your upcoming wedding. This is my second wedding, but first marriage and FI's first both.

I agree with the other posters, I know I was definitely one of "them" at my first wedding, it was really a perfect day and everything came together like a fairytale. Now I'm much more "to each their own" and hope everyone has a wedding day that suits them.

This time around I cannot wait to be married to the man of my dreams and begin our lives together so we've had a fairly short engagement and we're hosting a Vegas wedding after nearly three years together with minimal fuss.

My first wedding, my fiance's third. I totally agree with you, the ladies here are really not as stressed as on some of the other boards. Probably because we have lived longer and have different perspectives.

Congrats Suzie and welcome to the board. I look forward to hearing about your plans. I'm Stephanie, (52) and my fiance is Steve (50), this is the second for us both. I have been divorced for 13 years and my fiance for 6. We've been dating since he got divorced so I'm his rebound!!! HA! Since he found the best girl ever, he decided to keep me. I have a 14 yo son and he a 17 year old son. They are both standing up with the groom and my son is walking me down the isle.
I'm very excited and so is he. Welcome, and do tell us your plans!

Welcome Suzie and Congratulations.  My name is Erin and I'm getting married on October 16, 2010 to my soulmate.  This is both mine and my FI's 2nd wedding, but, 1st love.  As the other ladies have mentioned, this is a wonderful board with great women with our priorities and our level heads securely in place.  We've been there, done that and all realize that the wedding is just a moment in time and it's about the love we've finally found.

Welcome Suzie!

This is the 2nd wedding for both me and my fiance.  We knew each other back in high school (even had crushes on each other but both were too shy to say anything!), then reconnected 15 years later after our first marriages broke up.  I guess we are each other's rebounds (technically) but we KNOW we got it right this time!  We're getting married barefoot on a beach in Maui on 10.20.2010. It's going to be a super simple and short ceremony, with only immediate family and a handful of friends standing with us, with absolutely no decorations or fanfare.  The wedding will literally just be a quick 10 minutes of our married life together, surrounded by a fantastic Hawaiian vacation/honeymoon.  It's funny how time and experience makes one realize what is truly important in life, and it sure isn't turning into a Bridezilla over favors or some nonsense!
