Second Weddings

What do you get for the young boy?

So we are going to give my daughters pearl earrings/necklace they can wear in the ceremony, and then be a keepsake, a gift from fiance to them on our wedding day.

But fiance has a son - I am not sure what the equivalent would be. Guys don't wear watches anymore, and I don't think a 13 year old needs cuff links.

Ideas?

A nice wallet, with maybe his initials embossed or something. 13 yr old boys REALLY want a reason to have a wallet. tuck a little cash and a nice little note in it from you to him.

My son was 14 @ our wedding.  We gave him a gift card to the skate shop where he bought his skateboard gear.  He was psyched.  Boys aren't so much into keepsakes. ~Donna

I really like the wallet idea.  I asked my FI what he would want as a 13 y/o, he said Ipod (even though those weren't around when we were 13! lol  I guess I know what he wants as a gift from me!)  Good luck!

Teen boys are hard. I know, I raised one, who is now 23.

I might recommend "Now and Later" gifts. Something for now, that he'll appreciate, like a gift card for a favorite store, and something for later, tuck the card into a really nice leather wallet.

My son was the most unsentimental person when he was a teen. He now appreciates nice gifts, so if we had given him his first nice wallet, or a money clip years earlier, he'd appreciate it and use it. Anything that makes them feel "adult" and that you see him as a young man vs a kid is a good idea.

For what it's worth, we had a knottie get together yesterday and shopped at an outlet mall. The Coach store there was handing out 20% off entire purchase coupons, and everyone was getting things for their wedding parties. Small leather no-fold "wallets" (ie thin & holds cards & money) were very popular. My son is going to Oxford in June from Washington DC for his grad degree, so I got him marked down Coach passport holder and luggage tag.

    Good luck.
