Vow Renewal

Hi all,
My hubby and I are hoping to renew our vows next year, but we're not sure if we should have a big wedding or something small. We're looking at hosting the ceremony in either Lousisiana or Colorado, that way all our family has to travel. However, we're both worried that no one will show up and we're worried about the cost, as we don't want to spend too much money on everything.

UGH. has anyone renewed their vows? I'd really like any advice you can give.

Is this a vow renewal as in you had to get married at the JOP due to your DH being in the Army, or is this a full-out second celebration? My answer changes accordingly.

I have two answers for you, depending on your situation.

    1)  If you were JOP married and want to have the wedding of your dreams, then I would say go for it!  Plan a DW, and have fun!

2)If you want a vow renewal just to have one, then I would say do it where your family is, keep it simple, like a renewal with a friend as officiant, and BBQ afterwards or whatever.

If you are expecting all your family on both sides to travel, then plan accordingly, as in give them lots of notice, and do not be too disappointed if not many show up, as finances all over the US are precarious right now.

hmmm - if you want to do a destination vow renewal & want both families to travel to join you, I'd pick a location that they'd like, so they can work a vacation in around your vacation. (Check out Southwest Airlines Vacations)  Although I'm partial for New Orleans (!) Colorado is beautiful (used to live there)!  Depending on the time of year you're thinking about either place would be nice.  (A winter celebration in the Rockies, perhaps?)
