second wedding: Need Reception Ideas

This is my second wedding, so I don't feel comfortable having a big church wedding..already did that!  So we are going to Jamaica.  My question is, what to do for a reception back home.  This is his first wedding so its important to his fam that we have a reception.  We aren't party animals, so we don't really want to do the whole dance thing.  We would also like to keep it fairly cheap.  Any ideas?  Please, I need help!!

What you'll be having is a post-ceremony reception, some period of time after your marriage ceremony. It can be whatever you want it to be.

You can have a cake & cocktail party in the evening with no music
You can have a BBQ or dinner in your, or a friend's backyard
You can have a gathering at a favorite restaurant

Just be sure to call it what it is, which is a reception celebrating your marriage.

First, make sure you have a professional photographer take pictures at the wedding ceremony. Next, think about what you'd naturally do for an at-home party and then, just add few festive touches (balloons?).  If there is enough time between the elopement and the party, have your photo album to share with guests.  Good luck!

These are all excellent ideas...  It's really just what you and your friends/family enjoy doing.  And definitely call it a reception or at home celebration, but not another wedding.  You will have had that in Jamaica.  I hope you have a fantastic time there!!

Thanks for the ideas, ladies!  So what kind of invives should I send out for the actual wedding in Jamaica, and the reception?

I always feel like the invites for an actual wedding ceremony should be more formal than invites for a reception only. So I would definitely keep the reception invites more casual.

As a side note, I got my save-the-date cards from etsy.com and I also plan to get my wedding invites there. They have a huge variety! I'm having a casual wedding on Etsy that fit the bill.
