Dress Stuff - I know Will I Ever Shut Up About This?

So I/we have an appointment this Saturday with the boutique that is a two hour drive from our house.  I should be trying on 6 gowns. I won't know until we get there.  My MatronOH (my baby sister who lives out of state) will be in that area for the weekend and is planning on being at the boutique for an hour.  This morning my MaidOH (my best girlfriend from high school) sent me an email asking what time and for the address.  She's planning on being there too!  So at least two of my lovely ladies will be there as I attempt to decide on a gown. Of course the FI and the kidlett will be there and possibly two of his girl cousins who live in the area. This could be more fun than I thought!  This experience is a first for me

OAN: I had a dream that we were in a family style restaurant and they kept bringing me food and I kept saying I have to try on wedding gowns on Saturday so stop feeding me!  LOL

That sounds like fun!  My internet dress shopping wasn't that great.

    Angie,

I'm sure you will have a great time on Saturday.  I am living vicariously through you and your dress adventures.  I envision that, two weeks prior to my wedding, "nothing" will be my answer to "What are you wearing?"  Hee Hee.

    Angie,

Enjoy the experience!!  I was not really looking for a dress when I found mine.  My 23 year old daughter wanted to try on dresses, she'll be getting married in a couple of years but has no date set.  So she tried some on and looked beautiful.  I still wasn't sure what I wanted, was thinking something ivory, maybe tea length.  We ended up at another store and I tried some on, didn't really like anything.  We were getting ready to leave and I saw the sample sale rack, decided to look and tried on a couple and found the one.  It ended up being white, floor length with a slight train, not what I thought I'd get but I love it!!  Obviously I don't look the same as I did at 22 but I still feel beautiful.  Then again, when I have the final tryon I'll probably feel fat and old but I guess we all go thru that.  Thanks for listening ladies!

    Lisa,

Before I did my "moronic-enter-a-contest", I was threatening to be the naked bride - nude is a color right? Although my groom-to-be wouldn't have minded I think some of the guests would have been a bit surprised! LOL

    Linda,

Some days, like today, I feel as though the contest I entered and won was not the brightest idea on my part.  It's a lot of work (2 blogs per week until "I do!" and one after the honeymoon all with at least one picture and we're expected to participate on FB in our own private group) and the current reward as Sue-n-Kevin, Lisa, arv, AdelphiTN, Erin, Thealphabride and others who have been dragged down this path will tell you is less of a reward than originally thought. The contest was a chance to be one of the first 6 inaugural bloggers for It's a Bride's Life, the "prize" for telling one's story a gown from one of their designers of your choice.  I was the 5th bride selected and then they decided that they wanted an even dozen, not a huge deal.

Just before the site went live unbeknownst to me they changed my designer.  Communication and direction with/from the hosting group has been a huge learning curve, and I didn't learn why the change occurred until I emailed them. So the original dress that I would have liked to have tried on, was now off the list as were all but two (I had 10 dresses chosen) and there are only 3 dresses that meet my criteria with the new designer.  So I have maybe if all were sent 6 dresses to make my selection from I threw in one that isn't so much my style but we'll see.

I'm proving my moniker Miss Resilient Bride to be true especially in dealing with this particular company most grown-up ladies would have gently told them where to place their contest and gown by now.  I keep telling myself that this is an opportunity that allows me to assist my lovely ladies who will be standing with me since I don't have to pay monetarily for a gown (other than alterations). It also allows me to have a gown that I wouldn't otherwise be able to afford.

Sorry this is so long again...

The reason I'm excited about Saturday has more to do with the fact that two of my lovely ladies will be there with me - one I haven't seen in over 13 years (my friend from hs)! And this is an experience that is new to me!!  I'm hoping that it will be fun.

    Angie,

It's great to hear the excitement from you.  You will have a great time with friends and family I'm sure.  I hope that you fall in love with one of the dresses they have.  We will all be thinking about you on Saturday and sending positive thoughts your way.

Linda, we will all be beautiful on our wedding day.  Can't we forget we are old and fat just one day of our lives? Pretty please?
