Cake Cutting Set - Use or Not Use?

Ok ladies - have a question for you.

Little bit of background:  I moved in with FI almost 2 years ago now, and he has been married before.

The other night, while looking for winter clothes, I came across a storage tote with some wedding items in it - some fake floral centerpieces, caketop, guestbook and pen, and a cake cutting/serving set.  They were left behind by his ex-wife, who left years ago to be with another man.

My question is this:  Would it be appropriate to use the cake cutting/serving set for our wedding?  It is a plain style, not engraved or anything.

Personally,  I do not have a problem using it since it will be used only once anyway, and that is not something I hold in high significance anyway - if I had not found this, I would have opted for a plain old kitchen knife to cut the cake with.

TIA
Anniversary

I agree completely, if it  is a plain, unengraved set.....
    and
the two of you feel it appropiate and are ok with it, then GO GREEN...RE-use...

    I would........

You can even go a step farther and truly make it yours....Engrave it!

Use it on hoidays and parties , whenever you cut a cake.....

I agree with RetreadBride.  If neither of you has a problem using the set, why waste the money.  This is the "fluff" that can be ridiculously expensive.  I vote to spend the money on something which means more to you.

My venue provided the knife to cut the cake,  A set is true fluff.  As long as he's cool w/ it -  go for it

I'll be the voice of dissention.  I wouldn't want to use them.  Although no one else would know it was from his first wedding, I would know.

I wouldn't even have it in my house, much less at my wedding.

Of course, that's just how I am.  If the two of you are easy-going enough to be ok with it, it's no one's business but your own.

If it was me, I would engrave it and maybe decorate it with a ribbon that matched my color scheme.
