Valentine's

Because I am sleepless and we are close to Valentine's Day, I am posting a poll:

1. What are you planning for Valentine's?

2.Do you have already chose a gift for him? May we know what is it?

3.How many Valentine's have you spent together? Which one was the best?

4. Overall, what was your best Valentine's Day ever, and why (details pls!!)?

    1. What are you planning for Valentine's?  I think we're going out for dinner on Sunday night (maybe Saturday).

2.Do you have already chose a gift for him? Not yet.  May we know what is it?  I will likely go with the standards -- roses (sent to the office) and chocolates, and a couple of cards (which I've already purchased).

3.How many Valentine's have you spent together? This will be our 5th.   Which one was the best?  None stand out above any others.  I'm not into Valentine's Day, honestly.  But, he is into it ... so I enjoy his enjoyment of it.  Makes sense?

    4. Overall, what was your best Valentine's Day ever, and why (details pls!!)?  N/A  But, I'll share my worst.  I am tall-ish, 5'7" and wear a size 10 shoe.  For our first Valentine's day as a married couple, my ex-husband gave me socks ... "Big Girl Socks."  Hmmm ... maybe that  has forever dampened any positive feelings I had about V-Day, huh??  ROTF LMAO (it wasn't funny then, though!) ...

    1. What are you planning for Valentine's?
We are doing a bunch of wedding stuff this weekend (at home reception planning in wisconsin) and FI has class on monday nights so we're going to go out for dinner on Tuesday.

2.Do you have already chose a gift for him? May we know what is it?
We give each other cards all the time - so I have multiples of those for him, and I was in San Fransisco last week and picked up a big bag of Ghiredelli (sp?) chocolates!  Thankfully he didn't make me wait to open those... nom nom nom!

3.How many Valentine's have you spent together? Which one was the best?
this is just our 2nd one - last year he had to work (bouncer at a bar) so we went to dinner before he went to work.  As a gift he gave me his rugby jersey.  I know it doesn't seem like a very romanitc gift - but rugby is his life - and for him to give me his jersey was a pretty major thing for him.  I knew he was 'for real' with that gift.  :)

    4. Overall, what was your best Valentine's Day ever, and why (details pls!!)?
In general I think Valentine's Day is over-rated.  I'm the type of girl that would rather get a handful of wildflowers picked from the ditch "just because i thought you'd like them" than 2 dozen red roses on V-day because he thinks he has to.  Ya know?

ACTUALLY - I just remembered my 'best' v-day - a couple of years ago as my first marriage was imploding I was traveling for work the week of vday - and went out to dinner with 3 male collegues that night.  None of us realized it was "the day" until we are standing in the bar waiting for a table and noticed that I was the only girl that had 3 dates!  :)  I really had fun with the sillyness of that situation!

P.S. I can't get the bold to turn off - so you'll have to suffer...

    1. What are you planning for Valentine's?  I have class from 7 to 10 that evening.  :-(

2.Do you have already chose a gift for him? May we know what is it?  We agreed to only give cards to one another, as we're saving for a home for us to retire to.

3.How many Valentine's have you spent together? Which one was the best?  This will be our 7th together.  Probably the 3rd was the best--he made me spaghetti carbonara!

    4. Overall, what was your best Valentine's Day ever, and why (details pls!!)?
Valentine's day was  a HUGE deal in my house growing up.  Dad gave each one of us three daughters a one pound heart-shaped box of candy, and mom got roses, jewelry and a 5 pound heart shaped box of candies.   I try to carry on his tradition of making it special without going over the top.  Besides, the guys now are just waiting for Steak and BJ day in March.  What they do for V-Day dictates their March holiday. :-)

    1. What are you planning for Valentine's? We are going to a restaurant that is owned by a caterer and only open to the public on Mondays.

2.Do you have already chose a gift for him?  No, but he would really like a couple of new polo shirts May we know what is it? Might be the shirts or some Under Armor and of course lots of cards.

3.How many Valentine's have you spent together? This will be our third Valentine's second since we reunited. Which one was the best? Valentine's Day is not my thing hasn't been as long as I can remember, that said I enjoy every day with my  FI. My FI knows how I feel about Valentines and it takes the pressure off of him as well.

    4. Overall, what was your best Valentine's Day ever, and why (details pls!!)? This is going to sound weird given my last statement, but I had just gone through the first holidays after my first divorce and it sucked (I'm not a failure - but that is how I felt).  On Valentine's Day I was single and not going out - I purchased things for a manicure, pedicure and a facial and did a little self pampering and had a glass of red wine. One of my dear friend's who passed away last year also hand picked some roses out of the neighbor's yard and had them in a jar on my refrigerator when I got home.  It was nice not having any expectations of how the day would be..

    1. What are you planning for Valentine's? My boss gave me a $100 gift certificate for a local GREAT restaurant, we are going to dinner Sat night, not costing us a thing!

2.Do you have already chose a gift for him? May we know what is it? Just got him a card. Told him NO gifts, we need the money for our wedding.

3.How many Valentine's have you spent together? Which one was the best? Three together, best gift was the first: ruby pendant and earrings surrounded with pave diamonds.

    4. Overall, what was your best Valentine's Day ever, and why (details pls!!)? SEe above, LOL.

I asked and didn't answer....so here are my answers:

    1. What are you planning for Valentine's? We will have a very busy weekend starting on Friday's dinner with a couple of friends in a fondue restaurant. On Saturday there is a couple's dinner at my son's church, on Sunday we got a gift certificate for an Odyssey cruise dinner and on Monday we will be in a romantic dinner organized by my church...yeah, I am having them all because in 2009 we were broken up and last year I was recovering from a surgery.

2.Do you have already chose a gift for him? May we know what is it? We
decided to buy to each other our wedding bands, so that's we are browsing for.

3.How many Valentine's have you spent together? Which one was the best? We are together (on and off) for about 5 and half years, but we just spent three Valentine's together. I think that them all that we've spent together had been great, but maybe this year, due to a lot of celebrations it will be better.

    4. Overall, what was your best Valentine's Day ever, and why (details pls!!)?
Well, my unforgettable Valentine's, in Italy called " il giorno della festa degli innamorati" I spent with my deceased husband in Italy where he made all arrangements for a romantic dinner at Danielli's and proposed to me. He was also an Italian like me and loved arranging romantic surprises - I know, people like him are sort of rare to find!

We're not big into V Day.  We exchange cards and that's it.  He has bowling league on Monday night and I have Dr. House.

This will be our 7th V Day together.  We did celebrate the first one since we were in the throes of New Relationship Energy - we went to the Car Show and then out to dinner downtown.  He also introduced me to his best friend and the best friend's wife - that's how everyone knew this was SERIOUS.  The best friends wife and I had quite an illuminating natter in the ladies loo at the car show :)
