XP: Ceremony Music... Check!

FI and I sat down and finally selected our ceremony music.  And ... we're done! Here's the list (all classical except the first piece, a salute to my rock roots!):

Prelude (20 – 30 minutes)
Purple Haze – Hendrix
The Four Seasons - Vivaldi
Brandenberg Concerto No. 2 in F – Bach
Hornpipe from the Water Music Suite – Handel
additional selections, at director's discretion
The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba – Handel

Couple’s Entrance
La Rejouissance from the Music for the Royal Fireworks - Handel

Couple’s Guest Greeting (15 – 20 minutes)
Ashokan Farewell from the Civil War – Ungar
Canon – Pachelbel

Processional
Do we need a transition piece?  How would it work?

Interlude (Thomas and Stephanie, duet)
Bach Double Concerto in D Minor 1st Movement – Bach

Recessional
Wedding March from A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Mendelssohn

Yay!  Interesting choices... Music selections are tough, and we have three people who all want a say... But we're getting pretty close to done as well.

I don't think you would need a transitional piece... here's an idea though you could put together all your music in order and see if you and your FI like how it flows.

Yeah, it was tough but we got our butts in gear when my son came home and let me know that the quartet director (also his violin teacher) had picked out a piece for the duet.  Eh hem ... that made me realize we'd been dragging our feet on that.  SO ... we sat down and looked at notes we made months ago, plus listened to a boat load of classical music today (I am SO mellow right now!).

We knocked out the entire list (the director can help with flow)!  Hooray!

BTW, I had no desire to have Hendrix, but its on their playlist and website and sounds awesome.  Woo hoo!

    Yeah ... links would be helpful, huh?  I'll go back and add a few.  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-embarassed.gif" border="0" alt="Embarassed" title="Embarassed" />

But for now, here's a link to their wedding music page, with clips of some of their most popular wedding pieces:

Ooh, thank you for linking that! I'm stressing out about my processional, personally. I like Canon in D but it's SOOO overplayed out here for weddings, that I'm honestly tired of hearing it lol. So I thought I would have the wedding party walk in to Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. But then I also personally don't like the "Bridal March" (Here comes the bride), not only because of it's origins (a play where the copule gets married and it ends in total disaster) but also just because I honestly just don't like the way it sounds much. But now I can't find anything to march in on that sounds good with my WP processional choice, lol! Maybe on this site i'll find something suitable.

Lisa, loved your ceremony music selection. I looove the Four Seasons (as a good Italian!!). Which "season" have you selected? We've picked the reception music, but we still didn't work on our ceremony selection completely...hopefully will do this before April.

I'm love your selections although I am not that familiar with classical music.

I kept all of my music light and whimsical. The girls walked to a song I still don't know the name of it was classical and my DJ chose it, the moms walked to it as well.

I walked to a Dave Mason tune circa 1970's that was special to my DH and I called "Spend your Life with Me" ... My friend played the keyboard and sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", during our wine sharing.... Then Nora Jones, "Come Away with Me" was played.... so beautiful.

We recessed to "You are the sunshine of my life" Stevie Wonder...

Lisa this should bring you back to your rock roots: Our first dance was to Led Zeplin's "Thank You"....

Yay!  I am so pumped.  Music is my thing, especially the classical selections for the ceremony.  The Interlude song is very special, a violin duet played by my son and my cousin's wife (OR the quartet director, who is my son's violin teacher).  Honestly, my heart starts pumping harder when I look at the song list ...

I will meet with the quartet director before the end of the month and we'll fine tune a couple of things, perhaps switch in/out a couple of songs ... I am so excited!  La, la, la!

LOVE your choices Lisa! We are stuck budget wise and not sure we can afford live music in the chapel. We'll have to see.

Thank you!  Thank you!  It took quite a while to come up with it; FI is not into classical music at all.  He's doing this for me.  *sigh*  Any refinements will be up to the quartet director and me.  I'm excited!

On to your challenge ... What about an iPod in the chapel?  Or ... an organist?  I understand budget issues, for sure.  Keep us posted on how it turns out.
