WR - to strap or not to strap?

Ladies -

I have been debating with myself for a few weeks now over my dress.

I LOVE it and it will be perfect for the Mexican beach wedding - BUT

it is a halter top style.  And while I like it - I also like strapless and think it could be changed to strapless with some smart tailoring.

My girl friends have proven completely un-helpful (they split 50-50 on the yes/no) so I am begging your help.  Which do you like better?

Wow Kelly, you really have some "girls" up top! I sadly do not.

If it were me, I'd probably go with the strap. Mostly because I love to dance, and would not want a fashion mishap a la Janet Jackson. But that's me, take it FWIW, I'm also in my 50's and a bit more afraid of these things.

Straps.  That looks so much more comfortable and safe.  I am full figured, and even with straps, I was conscious of being sure the top of my gown didn't drift.  ~Donna

Straps.  The fabric looks light and although it could be altered, it might not have enough support throughout the bodice to be strapless.

Sue- your comment made me think of a picture of a bride and groom releasing doves and the photographer or someone with a camera caught it at just the right moment.  The bride has both arms in the air looking very excited as she is watching the dove fly away, but her strapless dress is well below her breasts!  I'll have to see if I can find the picture and post it.

I am a pretty busty woman as well, and although my dress is strapless, I would say keep the halter straps on yours. There's something about the way it looks strapless, it just seems off. The halter one also outwardly looks more supportive, the strapless one looks like you're coming out of the top.

I would leave the halter as is, but that is me and I'm always trying to have plenty of support and coverage for the "girls".  My gown is strapless at this point but I keep trying to talk my seamstress into straps...I don't that that is a battle I am going to win how ever.

I like the straps. I love the shape of the neckline that It provides. I think without the straps you will loose that.

Maybe it's the different angles, but the it looks better with straps.  Your boobs look better supported and not quite so...out there.

Both were nice, but the straps were much more flattering on you.

I like with the straps--you have a very voluptous figure, and with the straps just is more appealing.

Awesome - thank you so much ladies!

I truly appreciate the honest assessment and will keep the strap.

A bit late but I love the strap too on the dress.  It was designed to be that way, and looks so much better.

I am also a busty lady (DD), and even though my dress is strapless, it is a straight neckline and a corset back, and I have a sturdy longline bra to keep my girls tucked in nicely.
