Second Weddings

Went for our tasteing last night, SO......the new question is...what to do with this newly added pla

Here is the question

We are haveing a champagne buffet brunch for our reception and then a limited desert table to follow later in the afternoon.

My wonderful husband to be who dbles as a "dessert freak" fell in love with a dessert that is better plated then served in bulk on a dessert table....

Can we serve a plated dessert after a buffet????

The event planner said yes, I am saying.....it sounds strange!

Sure.  Why not?  Is there something about your event manager/caterer than makes you doubt his/her advice?

I think it's fine.......remember, we are the "no rules" board. Do what makes him happy.

Are you doing a wedding cake or just the dessert buffet?  If no actual "cake," then the plated dessert could easily be seen as the "special" dessert and then everyone can pick and choose what they'd like from the buffet as an added bonus!

It isn't at all unusual to see a plated dessert along with other options, even after a buffet.

    What is the dessert?

The "dessert" is an ice cream crepe, with a fresh berry glaze, then fresh whipped cream and a chocolate drizzle....

The dessser buffet which we already are haveing consists of

wedding cake....each tier is white cake, then each layer has a diff filling, strawberry bavarian creme, rasberry bavarian creme, chocolate mouse, white chocolate mouse...

grooms cake....the hockey sticks are chocolate cake and the puck is yellow cake with choco mouse filling...

asst pastries  ( 2 per person)

chocolate fountain with candies , and whatever they have with it

    fresh fruit platter

so....we are definetly adding the "new dessert" but i dont want ppl to think the party is over because a plated dessert is served....or do i just serve it on the buffet table......have the caterer bring a few out at a time, so not to melt?????

Good question about when/how to serve it - definitely do not want it to melt all over!  I would suggest a few at a time, unless the caterer has another system in mind, besides a "plated dessert".

Have to say, that sounds like an awful lot of dessert choices.  Many too many.  Unless you want to end up with tons of leftover cakes, you may want to consider removing the chocolate fountain or something......just a thought.

With my FI being the "dessert Freak " that he is......None can be removed.....

If it were my choice alone, I would opt for the wedding cake and fresh fruit only.....but this is our weddng and for him, desserts are the best part.....

so, it is what it is....

If your planner says "yes" then go for it and let the professional work out the details!  That's WHY we hire them!!!
