Bachelorette Party

Ladies,

the topic of having a bridal shower has been discussed, but I have not seen the topic about the bachelorette party.  I have to admit that this is the one wedding rite that I truly feel tooooooo old for!!!  I am interested in reading everyone opinion on this!

Let's see - I have 4 true friends and none of us drink.  My best friend is 60, I am 53, and the other two are late 40's.  Boy are we a party or what!?

My best friend keeps saying we should do SOMETHING but I don't know what.  Maybe just a nice lunch somewhere in the city.  This and the shower I could do without.  I mean it'd be nice to have a shower but as I am in the middle of getting stuff ready for a garage sale I'm thinking the last thing I want to do is bring more stuff into the house Laughing

I didn't have the shower OR the bachelorette party.  But here's what I did have. I have a close group of women friends, we've all gotten to know one another through work in this highly male-dominated field.  So, we all got together one evening, and drank beer, had pizza, ate ice cream and chocolates for dessert, and then they each took turns sharing what they hoped for my relationship and future with my new man.  It was an incredible evening and I will treasure it always.

My friends seem to have great plans for this - including a lot of the new line of Hello Kitty wine.   They all know I am NOT the "stripper" or "beer pong" (or beer at all) type, however, and it'll be done to suit me and my tastes.

We had two bachelorette parties.  However, one was at a Korean bathhouse, and the other at a restaurant with an arcade.  Neither involved strippers or alcohol.

That's bizarre!  Why did my name change to Abochino in the second post from the top?

Never mind - back to Marrin

You don't have to go out an whoop it up at a local bar to have a bachelorette party. Heck, my first time arround I was 24 and I didn't do that. I just took my maids and the mom's out to lunch the day before. Granted, there were some margaritas involved, but it definitely was not a get plastered and make a fool out of yourself kind of day. This time I will probably do something similar. Since we are all traveling to the wedding location maybe we will hang out by the pool at the hotel for the day, or go get our nails done together or something.

Ha!  There will be no bachelorette party for me.  I didn't have one the first time and certainly am not moved to have one this time around.

Our wedding is in Annapolis and we're going there on Saturday (wedding is on Sunday) so there might be some co-ed hi-jinx and tom-foolery with other couples who are coming in a day early -- friends from Atlanta, LA, Boston and elsewhere.  That's about it!

But ... you never know.  Innocent
