Second Weddings

Hi Melissa,

I just read a post you answered and realized that your only a week and a few day's away from your big day.  How are you holding up?  Is everything falling into place?  I'm so excited for you and wish you the best.  Stay in touch and keep us posted.  I'm a week after you and it's just now really starting to sink in that it's a matter of day's now.

Again, best wishes to you and your FI

    Hi!  Thanks for asking!

As you can see, I'm up all night haha.  Right now, I'm emailing vendors before making breakfast.

Last night we were supposed to meet with our DJ, but he didn't show up.  That doesn't exactly instill confidence, but I sent a cordial enough message to him allowing for a reasonable explanation and to reschedule the meeting.  I hope it works out, because as much as I don't want to be on the hunt for a new one this close to things, I also can't risk something as major as that flaking out on me the day of the wedding!  It also appears that our ceremony vocalist is MIA, but we've got two back-ups to sing me down the aisle, so I'm not too worked up over it.

I picked up my completed gown yesterday.  It turned out as beautfiul as I could have ever expected.  The gloves really "made" the outfit.  It's funny - so many other brides talk about the veil being THE thing that did it for them, but I forgot to even bring my veil with me.  It was all the gloves.

My DOC is coming to my home, today, to help finish up the bridesmaids gift baskets, the bathroom baskets, and really get the guest favours started.  She has ten years of professional gift basket making experience, so I took her up on the offer to help out.

Other than the baskets and the favours...we're pretty set.  I have to make the cookies, fudge, and buckeyes for the late night cookie buffet, but those will be done in the 72 hours leading up to the wedding.   My Mom, MoH and her Mom arrive in town next week, which I'm pretty excited about.  None of them have seen our city or met my future in-laws.

The kids are really excited and doing well through it all.  I feel terrible, even though they don't mind, about having to run off to so many meetings and just have so much time taken up by wedding,  that I'm bringing them home special treats every day, haha.  Yes, yes, I know we can't buy kids off - but a little token of love never hurts. ;)

We have found out that our planned honeymoon has to be postponed due to a few immigration issues.  Our attorney advised us against leaving the country until the right paperwork is filed/in our hands following the marriage.  While disappointing, for sure, we're making the best of it and spending a few days at The Falls to relax (and gamble).

The change in my treatment plan/medication has caused a few issues, but nothing I haven't been able to manage.  I just have to make sure I take plenty of anti-nausea meds before heading off for meetings.   Otherwise, things are great.  My fiance and I are getting along better than ever, we're completely in tune with one another as far as the wedding goes, and our wedding party is doing all that they can (and we'll agree to) to make the next week as stress-free as possible on us.

It's hard to believe that you and I, both, are so close to the big day!    How about you?  Things running smoothly?

Now you've inspired me to make a post with gown photos from yesterday. :)

I'm so glad that everything with the exception of the few hiccups are otherwise falling into place for you.  It's wonderful when you have great people around you and both of us coming from prior experience have learned the valuable lesson in that its best to surround yourself with people who are truely there for you and have your best interest at heart.  Everything else is just show.

With that said, I got an e-mail from my MOH this morning said she'd be here for the rehersal and dinner and is thinking that she may just stay overnight which will be great for me.  My FSIL will be coming up this weekend to bring the favor jars of apple butter so we can put the escort labels and raffia on them.  She's also bringing up the leaf votives for the tables.  She's been wonderful and a god send.

My daughter in law is coming over on Sat to do hair trials and we're going to go to Michae's to pick up some things to make our own hair clip instead of paying the $40.from Davids Bridal or the $70 on line.  Hopefully, it will work out.

So far it seems everything is on track, just have the last details that need to be put into place.

While in this whole process, FI and I are trying to buy out my ex.  he is wanting to lower the price of the house and now seems the time to tell him that we're going to buy it.  Amazing, he never put FI into the equation, what a dumb a$$.

Again, melissa, I'm so excited for you.  I checked out your picture of the your gown and it's amazing on you and your right, the gloves make it!  Hopefully, next week I'll have mine back from the seamstress and I can post some pictures.

Good luck with your vendors and your DJ, I'm sure it will all work out for you.

It is so great to read the excitement both of you ladies have.  So glad everything is working out with only a few hiccups.  Enjoy your time with family and friends, it all sounds lovely.  Can't wait to see more pictures.

I have to say at the same time though, as excited as I am for both of you, I hope you hang around after you get married.  You both add so much to the boards, it just wouldn't be the same.

Thanks so much and I can say the same thing, I can relate to so many of the ladies on this board and enjoy reading everyone's posts.  It's a shame we all live so far apart...

I thought I was just going to lurk today but I have to agree with rapunnzzll that if you vanished from the boards you both would be sorely missed...   I have enjoyed your thoughts, support and encouragement.  So please come back and visit us!

Thank you so much, to all of you.  I do enjoy (most of) my interactions on TK very much, and the ladies on here.  I suspect I'll stick around through October to see the October brides' wedding photos and then check back on here to see how the encore brides are doing. :)
