NWR: Great news about my son!

Although my son and I are both laid up with the flu, he got some great news today!  He was accepted by Tulane University (my undergrad alma mater); the letter also offered a merit scholarship award of $7,500/year.  It doesn't pay for full tuition, but will make a nice little dent in the overall bill.

Whew!  I was worried (tried to hide it from him) b/c last year, Tulane had the highest number of applicants for any private university -- 44,000 applicants for 1,600 places.  Tremendous odds.  Tremendous success!!

*\o/*   <<<  That's me, doing a virtual happy dance.  My head is pounding way too much to jump up and down.  LOL!

My daughter was accepted to Tulane in 2000.  She ultimately went to UNC--instate tuition is dirt cheap.  She's at UGA for law school right now.

    Congrats on his acceptance!

Lisa, yay!!!  On the good news!!! Congratulations on the acceptance!

We're still sending out applications to colleges. My FI's daughter is hoping to be accepted by Yale (they invited her to apply), but we'll have to wait until February/March to know anything.

I'm very happy for you and your son!!  Feel better soon.

Yeah ... my son is still applying to a few more schools.  It's nice to have this in his back pocket, though!

That's fabulous news Lisa! You must be so proud. Tell him congrats on his accomplishment, and his good fortune to have chosen you for a Mom, LOL.

My son will be starting his final semester of grad school in January (majoring in public policy/political science) at George Washington University in DC. I had never heard of them until he applied. I did see in the past year however that their undergrad program is the most expensive in the country! He'll be nearly $80K in debt when he's done with his masters, but thankfully had a full ride for his BS. It's such a GIFT to get any money from colleges these days.

And I must say, aren't we all the proud parents........kinda nice to be able to talk about something besides weddings!

Congrats Lisa, job well done! Nothing is more rewarding than seen our kids in the right path and with a great start like that, I am sure he will do just fine!
