Annulment Question

This is my 2nd wedding and my fiance's first. I started the annulment process over a year ago and wasn't that concerned about how long it was taking, until I got engaged two weeks ago. If any of you have been through the annulment process, did you wait to plan your wedding? I know that I can't get married in the church until my annulment is final, but I really don't want to wait to plan anything. I'm wondering if it is possible to hold a date at a church, and release it if my annulment doesn't come through in time? We're thinking about getting married next May - hopefully by then everything will be fine.

You should probably talk to your pastor.  He would have the best idea of the appropriate planning timeline when waiting for the annulment.

Many parishes are quite adamant about not booking a date until the annulment is granted.  But only your pastor can answer your question. ~Donna

Most churches will not set a date.  I am waiting for a "date", my fiancee's annulment is in the last stages.  I've planned a style, picked colors, contemplated cake and photographer styles.  Then I just gathered info on at least a couple vendors that could accomplish what I had in mind.

Just a thought.

Thanks ladies! We decided last night to wait until the annulment is granted. After all, the hardest part is already over with! 

Shell - thanks for the tip. I think we are going to gather ideas and wait until we can set a date.

Our priest would not allow us to set a date (or reserve the church) until after DH's annulment was approved, this is the rule of our diocese but I am not sure if other diocese have different rules.
