Second Weddings

What are you doing about your hair???

I managed to get talked into wearing a wedding gown - still not sure how that happened. But I can't see me wearing a veil - not that it would be over my face, but still. Those of you wearing bridal gowns for your second wedding, what are you wearing in your hair???

I am wearing my hair half up with an elbow length veil in the back only..and that is coming off--i think after the ceremony.  The first time around it was a cathedral length veil with a finger tip under worn over my face...and shorter veil kept on the whole reception.  I am also wearing little white flowers and a few scattered crystals in my 'do.

I also can't believe I'm wearing a wedding gown again - but I love it!  I'm on the prowl for some sort of hairpiece that will take the place of a veil.  I'm thinking of something glittery vs. something flowery.  I wish I could see them all in person, rather than searching online.

My hair is short so I don't have much choice.  All the styles I see for weddings are for longer hair.  I dunno what it'll actually look like the day of................. halfway decent is the best I can hope for.

I am wearing a veil, but only while during the ceremony.  I will be having my hair back in an "bun" but really with more character than your basic bun.  And I will have an orchid in my hair.

It's my first, his third. I plan on a veil, but probably nothing "constructed", plus some sort of tiara or sparkly thingy, LOL.

I just plan on buying some bridal tulle, maybe 3 yards, and folding it in half lengthwise, then gathering the 2 ends together by sewing them and pulling them tight. I'll attach that to a comb and wear under a french twist (I am actually doing my own hair), and then have something on the top of my head.

I found these by googling, and love the ribbons with the rhinestones. I have sewn for over 30 years, so I'll probably make my own. That way, the ribbon can be worn by itself at the reception.

I wore mine down (see sig pic), because in Pagan tradition, one should wear NOTHING between the Goddess and God, and youself.  We did wear clothes, because we were on a public beach, but I wore nothing on my head.  We also did the Pagan tradition of braiding a small portion of my hair (we did it at the back, underneath) by the groom, to symbolize the intertwining of our lives.  It is visible in some of my pics, but not all of them.  My hair is waist length when it's wet, so that part was easy.

Originally, I planned on having it half up and half down, in sort of a Grecian style, but the hair trial was so horrific that I just did my normal hair, with the small braid.

I never had the gown the first time around...so for me:  Big beautiful ball gown...with tons of tulle!!!   XD

I hadn't planned on a veil...then the lady at the shop said to try it on because what other day do you ever get to wear one.  I tried it on, fell in love with it!!!

So my hair is just going to be side-swept over my right shoulder, 2-tier elbow length veil worn lower down and a comb with roses that match the ones embroidered on my dress will be in my hair as well.

I'm going so flipping girly it's ridiculous! And I'm loving it!

I'm doing a short wedding dress (DW on a beach).  For hair I'm thinking 1/2 updo with flowers or a sparkly comb of some kind.  There are some really cool things on etsy that I've seen.  No veil for me, but first wedding I had a 10 foot long veil (dont' ask) so I'm kind of done with that...  :  )

Half up half down with a tiara and a veil. I didn't do all of this before. I have the big gown and am going all the way. My darling mother says its because this is the right guy so I am doing it right this time! Here are some of the inspiration pics I have. Not quite what I want but gives you an idea. Funny none of the pictures I find are even close to my hair color as its a Auburn kinda color

Well, not sure if I am going to wear a long, tea length or shorter bridal gown. But one things for sure, there's to be no veil for me, as long elaborate veils and veils with blushers are most often used by the 1st time bride. Not meaning to offend, but please notice I said, "most often," because in today's modern age, anything goes and it's really just a matter of preference. But as for me, I'm sticking to tradition, because I feel that a veil or veil with blusher is more for a 1st time bride and moreover a perhaps more formal event. That being said, as opposed to wearing a fancy veil, I'm going to let my hair and hair accessories serve as my veil. Thus, I am wearing my hair in a half up half down hairstyle with losse cascading spiral curls, in the back; which is ideal for long hair; for this will will definitely work well for me in place of a veil, my hair being as llong as it is. To that I'm adding crystal hairpins to a loose and somewhat sultry tossle of curls on top, with flowers around the base, on the upper portion, I will have a wispy and equally sultry half bang ever so slightly curled to the side - with, of course, other spiralled curls falling where they may, which will only add to the romantic effect, as this is sure to be a very carefree style - and I'm considering scattering small flowers, such as stephanotis or lily of the valley, sparsely throughout.

It's my own design. I'm a cosmetologist. Laughing

COSMETOLOGIST'S TIPS: Just remember less is more when it comes to hairspray ladies, to avoid that stickiness that often occurs in high humidity; hereto, allowing that man of yours to run his fingers through you hair, if he should feel so inclined to do so. So, let your other sytling products do the work of maintaining the style and practice moderation with those too. Play with styles and see your stylist well in advance of your wedding day, avoiding any drastic changes before your special day. Oh and make your eyes pop for those pictures with a smokey eye; but, try not to go too heavy on the rest of your make-up - and only accentuate your best features. Look into make-up tips and feel free to message me, if you need some pointers.

    Happy hair days ladies! Wink

I have very short hair so I have been wondering the same thing. The veil thing is definitly out for me, I would feel just silly, sillier than the first time around. Besides, I'm planning an outdoor wedding and it gets very windy here in Wyoming! I don't want to be batling the veil the entire ceremony. I was thinking of doing a hair accessory with a little sparkle or maybe some flowers in my hair. I don't know if my hair is long enough to hold a comb though!

My FI's only request for our wedding day is that the woman who comes down the aisle is the woman he fell in love with. No fancy up dos that he'll never see again, no fake eyelashes, no mountain of material to fight through to get to me! (HEHE! He craks me up!) Anyway Im wearing my medium length hair down, my normal part in the middle and maybe a little more umph in the front, all with a very simple 3 1/2 inch pearl and crystal hair comb on top (kinda like a lil tiny tiara but very very simple) and no veil. I debated a small one but with my dress it just looks silly.

If you goggle bridal combs, you can get a huge idea of whats available. I'll only say becareful of price as I fell in love with one that was $215.00 frankly though I can not validate spending almsot as much for the hair piece as I did for the gown! Found the perfect one for $29.50!
