My first wedding, my fiance's third. We are using "From this Moment" by Shania Twain. In all honesty, I really don't think it matters what you use, it's the first time you are marrying your fiance!
we haven't quite decided on a "song" yet for the frst dance..... we kinda like 1234 by plain white t's or just the way you are by bruno mars or a few older ones.....we have time to decide
but we do know that
We are not doing a typical "first" dance with just me and my fiance.....
we are doing a family first dance that will incorproate not only us,but also our kids, our parents and siblings......Neither one of us want a "first" dance alone....but we are aware that many people expect it and don't dance until one...so we are going to start with a "family" dance
One good thing about first dance's...there is no right or wrong way to do one....
We are not doing a traditional first dance either but even though he hates dancing, I have told him that we are dancing to Crazy Love by Van Morrison. What he doesn't know is that one of his very best friends who used to sing in his band back in the day (and won't be able to make it out here from California due to other commitments) is recording a special version of the song for us. He's going to be so surprised. I can't wait to see the look on his face when he recognizes the voice.
"Unchained Melody" is our song Lisa. You can't have it! Well, yeah you can because we danced to it exactly two times and neither time was at our reception I guess I should say Unchained Melody is my song LOL Has no special meaning to T.
OP - we didn't dance to anything at our reception. We had music in the background but we ended up turning it waaaayyyy down because everyone was mingling and talking so no one danced.

Hahahaha ... FI really loves that song. I'll let him know you have dibs on it, though. I'm sort of like your hubby, though; it has no special meaning for me. I'm really lobbying for the Leonard Cohen song ... I sigh whenever I watch the video. Oh! That reminds me, I've got to get us hooked up for dance lessons. Hee hee!
We are using "Then" by Brad Paisley. It became our song and the first one we danced to. Friends of mine (also 2nd marriage) have also used "It's Your Love" by Tim McGraw w/Faith Hill.
We did a swing dance to Leonard Cohen's, "Dance Me to the End of Love." It is a wonderful song, with a focus on love across the years, not just young angst.
We are using "You're My Favorite" by Jason Jones. He is an up and coming artist. You can find the song on YouTube. I loooove it and cannot wait to dance with my husband to this song :O)
Re: Second marriage, First Dance
We used songs that were special to us throughout the wedding ceremony and reception...

It's highly likely we'll dance our first dance to one of these:
Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman? by Bryan Adams
Dance Me to the End of Love by Leonard Cohen (my favorite)
Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers (FI's choice)
OP - we didn't dance to anything at our reception. We had music in the background but we ended up turning it waaaayyyy down because everyone was mingling and talking so no one danced.
