Mother of the Groom and Mother of the Bride dress length

Hello:

I have finally picked a dress for my son's wedding. However my dress is long and the mother of the brides dress is not. Just past her knee. We both are wearing navy blue.

Is this a problem for me to have a long dress?

Thanks for your help someone!!Undecided

Not a problem.  You'll only be in approximately 2 pictures together anyway, and you're under no obligation to "match" each other.  As long as you're both appropriately dressed for the event (i.e. - no evening gowns at a Saturday afternoon barbeque, no jeans at a formal evening event, etc.), you're fine.

    No problem at all.

  • My mom and MIL wore different length dresses.  They wore what they were comfortable in and both looked great.

  • It's totally ok.  My mom is wearing a long dress & FI's mom is wearing a very short dress.  It should be whatever you feel comfortable in.

  • My mom said she will wear a white knee-length jacket dress (which I hate but w/e).  His mom said she will wear a long satin A-line gown with a matching jacket, probably in teal, purple, or red.  It really doesn't matter whether you are matching / coordinating with the MOB as long as you are dressed appropriately for the occasion.

i'm so glad this was posted, because this issue just came up. my fiance's mom emailed me a photo of an outfit (separates) that looks long, and my mom wants to wear tea length. glad you all say it is okay for them to wear different lengths!
