Junior Bridesmaid faux pas?

My flower girls will be 2yo and 3yo.  I asked my cousin who is 13 to be a junior bridesmaid.  My niece, who is 3, knows her very well and I figured if any problems arise she can help her get down the isle.  Is this a faux pas?

I probably should have asked this question sooner!

thanks in advance.

Re: Junior Bridesmaid faux pas?

  • I agree, just nonchalantly drop the junior title. NBD.

The only thing she will be doing differently from the older BMs would be not attending any adult-themed bachelorette parties, and she may have on a different style dress than the other BMs due to her age (my stepmom's maids wore strapless and my dad wanted my 9 year old self in something he deemed more age appropriate.)

  • This is definitely not a big deal. I think it's perfectly fine to ask the older bridal party members to help the younger ones out. As long as the 13 year old isn't stuck watching her all day, then I don't think it's a potential problem.

  • The only faux pas I can see is calling her a "junior" bridesmaid.
  • I'm going to ask my niece to escort our ring bearer and flower girl down the aisle as well, because they will be 3yo and 4yo. Go for it. :D
