Should I worry about dye lots??

MY BMs are getting dresses from David's Bridal, and we have an appointment tonight! My mom read that I should order them all at the same time. I'm seeing conflicting results on this. Some people say yes, and others say don't worry about it. I'm leaning toward not worrying about it because I'm having the BMs pick their own style dress in the same color and fabric from the same store. I have a total of 2 MOH,who will be in one color, 5 BMs and a JBM in another color.  Three of them are out of state and will be ordering separately. Some of them are eager to order their dress now, and others are waiting until it gets closer.

Has anyone had issues with David's Bridal dye lots being different?
Thanks!

  • I don't think this should be an issue.  I didn't get my BM dresses from DB, rather AA, but my girls ordered their dresses from completely different stores and the colors were exactly the same.

  • Thanks! Yeah that's what I'm thinking..and you know what? I'm trying not to add unecessary stress to my wedding planning, so I think I'll just let them all order their dresses on their own, and it will work out.

This is a very good idea.  Only stress over the big things and even then stressing is just pointless because it will never change the end result.  Just enjoy the process.  Good luck with everything!

This is something you shouldn't worry about. You could ask, but I don't think David's can guarantee that several dresses in different styles would be cut from the same dye lot.The dresses your bms will order have probably already been made, which is why they arrive so quickly.

  • I was just a BM in a wedding where we ordered our DB dresses at different times from all over the country. They all matched really well so I wouldn't worry about it.
  • Don't worry about it.  David's pushes for this so that all bridesmaids will order at the same time.  I've had BM several dresses from there, known several people who ordered, and never had a problem.
  • You'd better order the dresses at one time, due to the dye lots. The color may change a little different not much.
  • it is  better to order at tthe same time so you can take one thing off your mind. also, it is better to order earlier than later as i have read some post which brides are complaining as bm cant get the dress they want as they order too late or they have some problem with the bridal store
  • I appreciate your advice, however, please don't jump to conclusions about my early wedding planning, and scold me for doing BM dresses so early before you know my situation. There are many reasons why my BMs got together at this time to go shopping for dresses, rather than waiting until January.

[QUOTE]From someone who sews her own clothes:  you DO need to worry about dye lots.  The color can vary from barely noticeable to drastic. Your bio says your wedding is in July 2013.  Why on earth are you even looking at BM attire????  It's ridiculous to order more than six months out.  They're out money NOW for a dress that will just hang in their closets for a whole year, styles will change several times between now and then (what if you find something you like better????), they can gain weight, lose weight, or even have a baby before then..... Put on the brakes, and don't even think about ordering anything at all until January at the earliest.

Watch out for dye lots. My wedding dress did not turn out precisely the same color as the sample I tried on (and the sample was sold off the rack between the placing of the order and my receipt of my dress, so there's no objective way to compare/complain). The dress is a blush color, and the precise color was a large factor in choosing the dress, but there's really nothing that can be done about it now. Ordered both bridesmaid dresses at the same time to avoid this issue and would recommend you do the same.  Not at David's, but still... lesson learned.

  • Shop when you want for your dresses. I'm going in a few weeks with my ladies. because all of my maids and my MOH will be in the same city at the same time. next time this will happen? Wedding day. dye lots with David's bridal aren't something to worry about. : happy planning!!!!
