Mom help

I'm invited to a shower for my daughter....do I bring a hostess gift, and if so, what's appropriate?

Re: Mom help

  • If you want to, that would be very generous. Something small; the party is for the bride, after all. I would suggest a bottle of wine, if you know they're wine drinkers, or a gift certificate to a popular restaurant.
  • I've never heard of the MOB bringing a hostess gift, since you are there as a guest. If you want to bring something, it isn't poor etiquette to do that by any means, but it's also not required.

  • ditto Summer - definitely not required, but a nice gesture.  Are you thinking you should bring something because your daughter won't?  since the party is being thrown for her she's the one who should be getting the hostess a gift.
  • Maybe a nice card for the hostess thanking her for honoring your daughter?
  • Ditto Summer.  Not required at all.
