picking bridesmaids and flower girls

Help!  I am close to so many women!!  I have a cousin who is like my sister who I want as matron of honor.  I have my best friend who I definitely want in the wedding who will also give a speech. Here is the dilemma:  I have three sister-in-laws -  one I am close to and the others who we have a great relationship but not as close as the other sister-in-law.  If I have one and not the others it would hurt them.  My finacee' also has a sister who I want involved.  Plus my nieces have been directly asking me to be junior bridesmaids and flower girls.  I have two goddaughters and three other nieces!! They are all dropping comments about wanting to be flower girls.  Help.  I feel like I have to have them all to not hurt feelings but I don't want it to look ridiculous.  On the groom's side it is my fiancee's best friend and my three brothers.  Definitley uneven.  To keep the peace I may just have everyone but will that be crazy?!!! Advice will be greatly appreciated.

Re: picking bridesmaids and flower girls

  • Sweet Moses. Your wedding is NEXT summer. Wait to choose your WP until this fall, or at least a year out at the very earliest. Relationships change, and once you ask someone, you cannot unask them without ending or ruining the relationship.

If anyone presses you further, say, "Thank you, but it's waaay to early to worry about that! We're just enjoying being engaged right now. Have you seen that new show _______on Fox?"

So when you do ask, ask those who are truly your nearest and dearest. You do not have to have a certain number of people. You don't have to have a FG or RB. You can also just have a MOH and no BMs, or you can just have no WP at all.

Also, sides do NOT need to be even. You should ask the people you want, and same for your FI. It's not realistic that you have the same number of close friends/family. There is no reason the sides need to be even. You can figure out the logisitics of escorting (two BMs for each GM, for example).

  • Thank You!!!  I am not gonna sweat it anymore!! LOL!
  • I went to a wedding last year where the bride had 4 small nieces.  She had 2 of them come down the aisle ringing little bells, then the other 2 dropped petals, it was cute.
