Best Place for Mother of Bride Dress

Hey Ladies,

I am wanting to take my mom to find a dress for her.  Where is the best shop that has alot of choices for the Mother of Bride in the Dallas, Tx area?

I live in Allen so the suburbs is fine!

  • This is an international board, so try your local board, located to the left under Local Wedding Boards.

But, you could take her to any department store.  Macys, Pennys, Nordstroms, or Dillards would have lots of choices.  It would probably be cheaper than ordering from actual bridal salons.  The dress would also probably fit a more standard size (not wedding sizes) and little to no alterations would be needed.
  • Nordstroms in DC has a huge selection.
  • If you do decide to go to bridal stores do not limit yourself to their "Mother of the Bride" section.  Not really sure of your Mom's style but my Mom hated all of the typical "MOB" style dresses and choose to look at BM/evening gowns instead.  She ended up finding a really pretty Lazaro BM/evening dress at a local bridal store.

  • We had a casual summer wedding, and my mom found a cute dress at a small boutique here in Dallas. She could rewear it to another nice event, there was nothing particularly 'mother of the bride' about it. It was just a nice dress that she looked good in.
  • I'm from the Metroplex area, and we got my mom's dress at Dillard's. We tried Whatchamacallit, and the lady there was pretty awful. My mom is plus sized, and they do not carry plus size items in their stores, they expect you to order it without ever trying it on and hopefully you like it, because they're non refundable. Department stores usually have really good dress selections around the holidays. It doesn't have to come from a bridal store.
