Me too. I CAN NOT wait for HP 7 pt 1. Flame me if you wish but for the book releases I was the big nerd who dressed up. For 7 I worked the party at the Barnes and Noble in Southlake with my (oh man, huge nerd alert) Harry Potter Meetup group; it was such a great time.

Me too! Moving to Nashville for her boyfriend? Maybe not the best idea, especially now that they are previewing that they might break up, but she is sweet. Ryan is a jerk, but he seems to be trying. I so wish they would have been able to stay together. I would have loved for at least one the couples that chose to parent to be together and have made it work.

I think it is fair to say that it is fairly common practice in business to go the extra mile for your clients, especially the ones that are spending a load of money with you.

I didn't get the vibe that Michelle felt entitled, just that it was odd that they are not working with her on anything. I would probably feel that way too since it is such a common practice.

Your right though, they are not obligated.

Haha - Here is the link to the group: http://www.meetup.com/hp-dfw/

Sadly, it is a lot less active than it used to be. During the summer before the release of 7, we were meeting twice a month, having heavy discussions and were even interviewed by the DMN. The people in the group tend to be hardcore fans; people who go to cons and have already been to the HP theme park.

I flame myself because I haven't attended a meeting in ages. The timing never works out and as sad as it is for me to admit I think some of my HP love is waning. Of course, I will still do the midnight movie showings. :)

I've only watched Teen Mom intermittently, but I really like the couple who gave up the baby for adoption. I think that was really brave of them. And the girl whose daughter's father died - every time she cried on this last episode, and she was making that ugly cry face, I just lost it!

I normally hate to join these but I see Lacy's point. I'm not sure about entitlement, it more the fact that you work out these deals to begin with. If they will cut you a deal or give you something free it will be more early on. At this point they know you won't leave and will pay no matter what because there is a contract. If you did it at first it might have worked better.

Using the car dealership. You don't buy the car and say, "Now that I bought it what will you give me." You start with, "What will you give me if I buy the car." I think this was more Lacy's point, she can correct me if I am wrong. I got a free night, place to change, discount on food, and few other things because we haggled when we sign the contract. It's all IN the contract.

I beg to differ on this point. While she can't move the wedding, she could actually take her afterparty revenue elsewhere if she wants, and she can also book her hotel room somewhere else too.

I saw on the news yesterday where a hotel owner was "coming out" about hotel prices. He said to ALWAYS ask for a discount.. usually a phone call can beat anything that bidding sites have. I can see how not getting a discount when spending so much money already at a place could be cause for a small vent.
Disclaimer: Please excuse the above comment. I'm probably freaking out because there is less than one month to go. Thank you.

To the wackadoodle woman at the county office: you are lucky that I am in a good mood. Didn't your momma teach you that interrupting people while they are having a conversation is rude.

I use to work at a major hotel here in DFW and really there are no secret rates. My best advices is that you get what you pay for. So, if you want to save don't expect to get the best room and if you want something the only way to insure that is to pay for it. Fyi, I never upgraded anyone that asked for something for nothing. It was usually somebody that came in and was respectful and excited. People in the hotel business have people all day ask for things for free and its the last thing we wanted to hear.

agreed. FI is a service manager at a hotel and people who come in and haggle for prices really annoy him. He will give good rates to people who are nice and respectful.

I think I can see both sides to this. I mean, of course we aren't entitled to anything. But at the end of wedding planning, when you see the money just going and going, and then you ask for a comped room at the hotel you're spending thousands of dollars at and are refused, that's maddening. And IMO, in Michelle's case, it makes better business sense to grant the request.

At any rate, like the PP said, we asked if the room was included up front. It's best to know right off the bat what you're getting and what you're not. That being said, the Melrose did work to comp us and give us upgrades where they could and we won't forget that. And Michelle won't forget either.
