Unity Candles- Moms lighting the candles

My fiance and I are getting married in August with kind of a beach theme.  My Mom is legally blind so the moms lighting the candles for the unity candle is out.  Is there anything else we could do to involve the moms without my mom getting out of her chair.  We don't really want to do the flower thing when you bring the moms a flower.  My future mother in law suggested that the fathers walk with the moms up to light the candle... I think she really wants to be involved in the ceremony... but I know it would just be too stressful for my mom to walk with my dad leading her in front of everyone.  She doesn't like others to know how bad her eyes are.  Any ideas would be great!  Thanks

Without knowing more about the elements of your ceremony, I'm not really sure what to suggest.  One thing that did come to mind was asking your moms to be the people that held your wedding bands.  Before that part of your ceremony, you could each go to your mom to take the band you will give to the other person.

If your future mother-in-law truly has her heart set on participating in the unity candle ceremony, could you maybe ask each mom to hold the candle at their seat and someone else (dads, grandparent, sibling, etc.) could light the candle and carry it your station?

I think having the moms hold the rings sounds really nice.

Does your mom want to do something at the ceremony to stand out?  If not, I'd suggest that you ask FI's mom do a reading or something along those lines.

What is your mom comfortable doing? I would ask her what role she feels ok playing in the ceremony. I agree that having them hold the rings would be cute. You could work something in about them giving you the rings as a symbol of welcoming the other person into the family or something. Or when the officiant asks "Who gives this woman?" Both of your parents could say "We do". Then your mom is involved without her having to do anything involving sight.

You could also do the sand unity ceremony, which might be cute since you have a beach theme. Your moms could pour in sand at the bottom of a jar/container and then you and your fiance pour your sand on top. You could probably take the big container to her and let her pour from her seat. I think pouring sand into a vase or jar might be a little bit easier (for someone with limited sight) than trying to light a candle. 

I also like the idea of the moms blessing the rings. That's super cute!
