LA Fitness

I have an appointment tomorrow to get some pricing for a personal trainer. Do any of you know what the pricing is like so I can prepare myself?

Re: LA Fitness

  • I will warn you they charge by 30 min. Sessions. I don't remember pricing. I was a trainer at one of them about 3 years ago.

  • I never worked with a trainer at LAF but I think I paid $40/month if I remember correctly just for the membership.  When I looked into working with a trainer at Tom Landry, it was about $50-100/hour depending on the trainer you picked.

  • Oh my gosh!  I had no idea it was that expensive!!!  I was seriously thinking $25/hour session...I was WAYYYYYY off.

  • Most trainers charge anywhere between $65-100 per 1 hour session. When I was independent I charged $65 and that was 3 years ago.

  • I paid $200/month for 8 sessions for one year. Be careful b/c they will auto charge you after your contract is up and you'll need to call to cancel/make sure they stop charging.

Personal trainers are expensive.  I found someone who was willing to cut me a deal for $50/hour, but his normal charge was $95/hour.  They also seems to LOVE to give unsolicited nutrition advice, which really, really irks me.  You're a personal trainer, NOT a dietitian... please don't tell me how you think food works in the body and that you know everything there is about nutrition.  You don't.

Haha.  My trainer did this.  AND refused to give me any of the notes he was writing down because he "didn't want me to hurt myself trying to do these exercises on my own."  No, you just want me to buy more sessions, and I'm not going to, because you're annoying and keep acting like I'm going to break.

  • TBH, you might want to try out a boot camp like Camp Gladiator. It is 69/ month for unlimited sessions all over DFW and there is a trainer there and you can ask questions, but you're not paying for 1 on 1.
I think it's the best fitness deal in DFW.
  • I just looked into the bootcamps.  Camp Gladiator is $170 and DFW Adventure is $179.  Have any of yall done these?  What types of results have any of you seen from that?

  • Here's a tip on Camp Gladiator:
If you go the third week into their session (they do 5 week cycles), it's 'bring a friend for free week' even though you can totally go by yourself. After you go to that one session they offer you MAJOR discounted deals you won't get if you just sign up for the regular packages.
That's what I did, and I paid 69/ month. I think you can still get that special.

Ok, so since they started this cycle April 23, I would just need to go any day this week to get the special deal?  How intense are the classes?

  • I think bring a friend week was last week actually. If you follow them on facebook and twitter they always announce it.
They're pretty intense, but they divide up the group by fitness level. And there are ALL fitness levels for sure. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
