Old Bridesmaid Dresses

I have a couple of old bridesmaid dresses that I would prefer to no longer store.  I purchased both of the dresses for the weddings.  Should I ask the bride if she wants them for memory sake before donating them to a local charity?  Or would it be better to just donate them without the bride knowing?

Re: Old Bridesmaid Dresses

  • Donate them.  She has pictures and her own dress, I can't imagine any bride wanting one of the BM dresses.  It is very thoughtful of you to think of them though.
  • Donate. I have no idea what I would do with my BM's dresses. Probably nothing except donate them myself.

  • It wouldn't hurt to ask the bride. My daughter is having her wedding dress made into a quilt and sometimes they use the bridesmaid dress in it.

I think it's a nice gesture to ask the bride. She may not want them either, but there are plenty of crafty brides who would love them for a quilt or something, as mentioned above.

I actually came across this on the Dessy site last week.  It's a chance to recycle BM dresses and get a new LBD in exchange: http://www.newlymaid.com
