Asking to be a Bridesmaid

Cute idea! Like PP said, don't feel like you have to go all out to ask them. 

Maybe you could mail them this with a nice handwritten card, thanking them for their friendship. That's what I did, minus the poem. 

However, your profile says you are getting married in June 2013? If this is still correct, please please wait until next year, at least until June and maybe even until the fall, to ask your friends/relatives to be BMs. We see SOOOO many brides who come here asking us how to "unask" a BM because they asked too early and the friendship changed and you cannot unask a BM without being prepared to end the friendship. It is very rude. 

Of course this is not always the case (I asked too early because no one warned me, no issues) but better to wait and be sure than to find yourself in a weird place. There is nothing for your BMs to do until about 6 months out. That's when they need to order dresses. Usually showers/parties are thrown within 6 months also, although those are optional, not requirements of a BM, plus anyone (WP or not) can throw them for you.

While it's sweet that you want to do something 'different', I honestly find the poem to be a little juvenile.  I'd seriously skip it and write (I'm assuming you'll be writing something, not just reciting a poem) individual and heartfelt to each girl.  Or you could just call them up and ask normally, either way, I'm sure they'll be excited for you.
