Just Blowing Off Steam...

I've really been laid-back about my whole wedding. I just picked a color and told my bridesmaids to get whatever dresses they felt comfortable wearing. I was perfectly fine with my junior bridesmaid wearing her communion dress instead of buying a new dress just for my ceremony. I've incorporated everyone's suggestions. I just can't wait to get this wedding over with because I feel like I am going to lose my mind.

I should have thought things through a little more carefully when I picked my MOH. She is a dear girl, but in my excitement about being engaged, I didn't stop to think about how her planning style is totally different than mine. I'm all about getting things done so there are no last-minute problems or weeks filled with stress. She just half-asses everything at the last minute. Her daughter is my flower girl. I wanted to order her a dress from the JCP clearance a few months ago. It was $11 and I was perfectly willing to pay for it. She told me that she'd already told her mother-in-law that she can pick her daughter's Easter dress and, whatever she picks, she will put her daughter in for the wedding.

So now it's Easter week and it turns out her MIL is not buying an Easter dress after all. I ordered one from Amazon (and paid for it) so we'd have it and know it fits and all that. She seemed kind of miffed that I ordered something, saying that she wanted to wait until spring stuff goes on clearance. By the time that happens, there's no guarantee we'll be able to find something. When you wait until the last second, you lose all of your bargaining power. I like to shop around and look for deals. I was actually able to get a $4 discount on the dress due to a sale. But if we waited until a week before the wedding, there's no way to know if we would find something in the right size at a good price point.

I realize this isn't a big issue and that my marriage will not crumble if the flower girl wears an ill-fitting dress. I just wish that my MOH was helping me instead of causing me stress by waiting until the last second to do everything.
