Re: Order of brides mates

  • Ok, punctuation is your friend.  I believe you are wondering how to have your BMs process.  If you are having the GMs walk the BMs down, then you would have one BM and one GM walk down together, followed by another pair, until they are all lined up.  I believe it is customary for the MOH to come in right before the bride, so I guess the best man could escort her, although at the weddings I've been to, the guys are already at the altar when the bridesmaids process.  For the recessional, just match one BM with one GM.
  • Is his brother the Best Man? If not you could have them line up together. Otherwise, if his brother is the best man, then he would walk with your **COUSIN**, the MOH.

For the love of holey knickers, use punctuation.

  • For our wedding, my FI and his BM are going to be up at the alter, then the BMs and GM are going to come in in pairs starting with those standing furthest from the alter with my MOH walking alone directly in front of me. As others have said, you can also have all the GM up front with your BMs walking alone in front of you. You could also have them come in one at a time alternating (girl, guy, girl, guy) though with five on each side, I imagine that would start to drag on. Don't over think things.

  • The married bridesmaid and groomsman do not have to walk together.  They can walk with others.  It's only a 15-second walk down the aisle.

You can line your attendants up either:
    1) according to height (shortest to tallest, or tallest to shortest)
    2) alphabetically
    3) in order of their importance (for lack of a better word) to you, from the maid of honor on down the line, which I think is done most often.
