Should the mothers' dress lengths match those of the bridesmaids?

Mine didn't. Neither did the Mother of the Groom. Mom wore knee length, MIL wore Floor length, bridesmaids wore calf-length. Looked fine.

The mothers don't need to coordinate with the WP at all, only the formality of the wedding.

I think what ever length they are comfortable. My BMs are wearing short dresses and I know my Mom prefers to be in a long dress. I'd like her to be comfortable so she can have more fun.

Mine will simply because it's going to be January, so everyone will be in floor-length out of comfort.

I don't even remember what MIL and Step-MIL wore.
I know my mom wore a knee-length dress like my bridesmaids.
It doesn't matter.

The mothers only coordinate if they want to. Let them dress themselves, they aren't children.
