Bridal Shower Themes

Hi Ladies,

I'm looking for suggestions on themes for my sister's bridal shower, I'm her MOH.  She loves theme parties.  I'm planning on hosting it at my house, in February, and making a majority of the food. So I'm looking for ideas that are a little more DIY as opposed to some of the exotic location and catered ideas being advertised in some of the knot articles.  Would love any ideas, trying to get a head start on the planning.

There are a lot of blogs out there that can give you inspiration. One example is "Kara's Party Ideas blog", she by far is huge when it comes to theme parties. She showcases one pretty much everyday, all of them are DIY and look fabulous.

We considered a lot of things...all personal to my daughter and her plans.  We looked at a Celtic theme, a fall in summer theme, and finally went with a mexican theme because she was going to Cancun for her honeymoon.  It was easy to do fun decor.  We had a pinata, made tons of tissue flowers, made cute invites with the theme.  I did the food, which was way easier, really accessible and almost everyone can find something that they will eat.  We had sangria and punch, and for dessert made different flavor cupcakes...mexican chocolate, dulce de leche and strawberry margarita.

Look at what your bride is up to and there should be a theme there!
My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!

Is there anything that your friend is really interested in? I love British culture, Victoriana, and tea, so my MOH did a tea party theme for mine with finger sandwiches and china. It was absolutely perfect. If your bride has a hobby it might be fun to bring it into the party.

My shower is a "Linens and Lingerie" party.  Decorations are going to be made out of different types of linens and....lingerie....but tastful, not trashy lingerie.  My mom is very creative and hosting the shower so i'm excited.
