WTF bridal store!! Vent!!

Ok so all of the bridesmaids have ordered their dresses before the date that I was told there would be a rush fee for. Most purchased their dresses in Feburary and one in early March. I just recieved an email from the bridal store saying that the dresses would ship 5/25.....My wedding is June 9!!!!!!
They also said that there may not be time to ship my friend's dress to her out of town which my friend asked them to do when she purchased the dress in early Feb. and they said was no problem. So now she may have like 2 days to try on and get alterations. When I wrote the store back how worried I was they were like, "we can do alterations over night if we have to. The rush charge $40 per dress and we don't think you will need to pay it....WTF!!!!!!! I am not paying a rush fee nor will I have my friends pay a rush charge when they bought there stuff in the time frame we were given.
When did your bridesmaid pick up their dresses. Am I stressing about nothing?

Re: WTF bridal store!! Vent!!

  • Alterations don't take weeks and weeks.  I'm going to throw that out there first.  Yes, alterations can be done overnight so don't stress about that part,

If the ship date is 5/25, what day are they due to arrive at the bridal shop?  That would be my a-number one concern.  If they are going to get there on 5/26, breathe.  If they are going to arrive on 6/7... that's much too close for my peace of mind.

Try not to stress too much.  I know it's close, but find out the delivery date!
  • Chances are, your BM dresses will arrive much earlier than what the store told you. I was a BM last year, and my dress arrived in something like three weeks. We were told it could take 10-12. It also didn't need altered (not saying that your BM dresses won't need altered, but there's a chance they may not need it).

If you're still concerned about it, call a seamstress and see if she can give you an idea of how long it could take to alter the dresses. I imagine May/June would be busy for any seamstress, but calling ahead to get a rough estimate may calm your nerves, even if you don't need alterations after all. Good luck!

  • Thanks! I think I just needed to vent!
  • Most bridal stores will tell you a later date than what it will really be just to cover their asses. I would just call and ask how many days it takes to ship from the wearhouse :)
