Hostess worries

My wedding colors are ivory, champagne, and tan. I am having hostesses at my wedding to escort guests to there seats, check rsvps, and sign guest books. What color should I have the hostess wear?.please help.

Re: Hostess worries

  • Those duties for the hostess sound totally normal to me, I've been at a number of weddings where the host or hostess does just that.  Maybe it's a regional thing.  I mean, checking RSVPs seems a tiny bit overboard, but everything else is quite reasonable and what the host is "expected" to do according to all of the etiquette articules I've read on the subject.

To answer the original question though, if this person is a friend of the family and will turn into a regular guest once the recpetion starts, they can wear whatever color they want.  If they're concerned about "matching" just tell them your wedding colors and they'll pick something within that realm of color.  If you're paying people to do these duties, black bottoms and white (or ivory if you're ultra concerned with matching) tops would be appropriate (unless you don't want them blending in with the catering staff).

You need to have hostesses direct your guests in the signing of the guest book? Do they cut their meat for them too?
