Tanning Advice Needed!

I have a full time job that requires me to work outside for most of the day. I have tried my best to keep from getting a farmer's tan but I have still managed to develop one. I have a strapless wedding dress and I have no idea how to get rid of it before my October wedding. Would a spray tan work? I would prefer to not have to go to a tanning salon.

Re: Tanning Advice Needed!

  • I would probably use a sunless tanner/tanning lotion to try to even out the color if it's still there come Sept. If you put the tanning lotion just on the whiter part, it may start to even out.

I got an awful racerback tan line on my back the week prior to our wedding. I had already planned on a spray tan, but it did not even it out for me and I had the tan line on my wedding day. I just kind of laughed it off but of course I would have preferred for it to not be there and wished I had tried tanning lotion.

  • If you get the kind of spray tan where a person does it with a gun, assuming they're good at their job, they should be able to even it out.

A spray tan from a booth will not even it out.
  • A got a spray tan from a booth and it did cover my tan lines but I had not walked outside for about 3 months to get them to fade.

The "spray tan where a person does it with a gun" is an airbrush tan and that is what I would recommend, along with doing everything you can to get them to fade beforehand.
  • Get a custom spray tan - the kind where a person applies it. They can even it out for you. A booth spray tan probably wouldn't help, and self tanner applied yourself might be tricky.

FWIW, I got my spray tan done by a person, she specifically tried to even it out, but it still showed my tan line and didn't work. I mean going in for the spray tan, the rest of my skin was a pretty dark tan and then where my tank had been it was just white. I think even with a person doing it, it's asking a lot for it be perfectly evened out with just one spray tan. I really wish I would have applied tanning lotion myself to even it out before I went in for the spray tan.
