Teeth Whitening Strips

Have you ever tried whitening strips for your teeth? I'm thinking about getting some at Costco, but I'd like to know if they're worth the price. Any experiences shared would be fantastic. ^_^ Thank you!!

BTW: Wedding is 38 days away.

Re: Teeth Whitening Strips

  • YES!  On a whim, I did the Crest strips about a week before my wedding--so I did them like 5 or 6 days.  I saw a considerable difference and I kicked myself for not doing them sooner.
  • yes, I've done the Crest ones with definite success--my dentist thought my teeth looked great. off brand or generic, not so much.

warning: they often make your teeth sensitive. so if it starts getting too painful, do the strips only every other day. it will take twice as long, but is still effective.

Thanks, ladies! I just bought the Crest pack from Costco, and have the first one on now. They feel a little weird, but I'm willing to put up with it for whiter teeth. I blame dad for only stocking the house with Diet Coke when we were kids! LawLz

  • spend the extra money and go for the premium strips.  They don't require 2x's a day.  I have used them for years...tried every kind and the crest premium work best.  I also use the mouth wash HD white by crest and the HD white toothpaste.  I use the strips about 3x's a year.
  • They're great!  definitely worth the price.

My dentist only recommended Crest strips - so if they're dentist recommended they must be okay!

I got the pack of Crest: Advanced Vivid and Crest: Stain Shield. I guess the Stain Shield are like a touch-up strip? I'm slightly confused, but I'm counting on them to make my teeth all pretty. LoL

I've used half of my 10-day pack (I can only do a strip once every day and sometimes once every other day, not twice a day like it says) and my teeth are noticeably whiter. Unfortunately, they're still not WHITE, which is annoying, but better than it was. The only thing is, the last 4 strips I did haven't seem to made any difference.
  • The cheap alternative......

Dilute hydrogen peroxide in water.  Swish that around like mouthwash.  DON"T SWALLOW IT!!!!!

Brush with baking soda.  Tastes gross....little salty.

Brush with regular toothpaste to rid yourself of the baking soda taste.

If you look at the ingredients on the white strips, its basically hydrogen peroxcide and baking soda.  All you're doing is spending a lot less money and you don't have to sit with nasty strips on your teeth for 30 minutes.  I used white strips a few years ago and I have gotten almost the same results from this method.  My FI and I are both doing it and with the amount of coffee he drinks, it is making a huge difference!!

    BTW.....wedding in 5 days.....SO EXCITED!!!!!

I used to do this. It doesn't taste good that's for sure.

  • I've used the strips also, got good results but another alternative is smashing a strawberry and using you toothbrush to get some out and brush your teeth with it. And yes it does work lol!

  • I did the Crest White strips and brush with Crest Whitening with Scope and Rinse with Crest Whitening mouthwash. You'd think I work for them, but I've had really good results using those products!
  • Ditto to the previous posts.  I had noticable results with the Crest white strips.  The Aquafresh brand was useless and uncomfortable (they were these gross, thick waxy strips--I felt like I was biting on a candle for half an hour, and they kept falling off).  Also, your dentist can do a quick whitening procedure.  It'll cost more than the strips, but it's a lot quicker.
