does anyone regret wearing their hair half up half down?

Hi!  I am considering wearing my hair half up half down for my wedding.  I have really thick hair and I love it down.  I feel a lot more like myself than when I have it up in an updo.  My hair holds curl and any style very well.  My only concern is that is a long time to have it down and I am wondering if anyone that did wear theirs down on their wedding day regrets it ?

  • I felt the same way, and then ended up wearing my hair up.  I am very glad I did because I really like to dance and by the end of the night, I was a hot, sweaty mess!  It was nice not having it on my neck.

  • No offense to anyone who did this! As a hairstylist, I know myself and the other stylists I have worked with do not like doing half up half down. You can really make it look much prettier if you go all up or all down. I dont mean that if you choose to wear your hair down, you cant pull it off your face, but if literally half your hair is up, its generally not as pretty as it could be. If your hair holds curl well and you feel more comfortable with it down then definately do that. Just make sure its set well and you have good hair spray. Hope this helps!
  • Thanks for the advice.  I am not meaning literally half of the hair up, but just pulled up out of my face.  My hair is really thick so I have enough hair for it to look good.  do you mean that you don't like doing it b/c it doesnt hold well?
  • I wore mine down - all down - in the heat and humidity of Alabama.  It was 98 degrees with 80+% humidity on our wedding day.  Everything was inside, but we took photos outside.  My hair normally doesn't hold curl very well in humidity, but my hair stylist used a ton of hairspray, curled it with a flat iron, and set it.  It stayed great and I don't regret it one bit.  My hair doesn't look good up, and DH doesn't like the hair up styles either...so I wasn't even going to consider an all up style.

  • Its not that it doesnt hold well, i just looks like too many things are going on. Or, like you werent sure what you wanted. Pulling some off your face would be very flattering though. Sorry I misunderstood.
  • My hair was very long for my wedding, and I had decided to do it half up and half down which looked amazing....However, I wish I had put my hair completely up. Just because of personal preference and not because it didn't look good. Looking back on the day I would have changed it. So if you are thinking about it now, then you should go for it. Especially since you said you feel a lot more like yourself when its in an updo. You need to feel comfortable on your wedding day.
  • I wore mine half up/half down and don't regret it at all.
