Changing your name is so much work--I don't think the guys realize.

You have: Social Security, Driver's License, Passport, Credit Cards, Bank, Health Benefits, Dr's offices, etc. etc..... I still haven't done it all!

I've done pretty much everything I could online or over the phone, but due to my crazy work schedule leading up to 9/17 deadline, now I'm going to do all the stuff in person. It's been a pain for H, too as we can't get a joint account to pay our bills until I change my name.

The checking account was one of the harder things for me, because my parents were on my account and I was TECHNICALLY supposed to go with them to a bank to make the changes in person, but with my parents living in Mississippi and us moving to Oklahoma, that was pretty much impossible.  They were really nice about it and just let me mail the docs to my mom.

And health insurance and that kind of thing was easy because we both had to do new insurance with the move!

F I didn't even think about this. My mom is on my account. Maybe I can convince her to go at lunch, since she works in Plano.

Oh BTW, it's only 9:30 and I'm already back at work. I'm going to make a seprate thread on my amazing experience.

It's so much easier doing the name change in a small town. I never had that much trouble 20 years ago with my 1st marriage. But that was 20 years ago and in a small town. So dreading that part.
