Dress, hair and veil/birdcage/nothing?

I'm at a loss.  I am getting married in Vegas this June and my FI just surprised me with a wedding dress (isn't he the best?!) but now I am at a loss on what to do with a veil/birdcage.  Here is my dress...

and here is the hair/makeup look I am going for

Keeping in mind that it is a Vegas wedding, what are your thoughts?

Carrie was my inspiration too--I did a half up with a short veil in the back and a decorative comb.  I had planned to slip off the veil and just wear the comb for the reception but got so busy I just left it on all night.

For Vegas I like the idea of no veil with just a comb or flower fascinator or a birdcage if that is your style.  But there are no rules.  I didn't think I wanted a veil until the consultant put one on me--then I couldn't imagine not wearing one.  Maybe go to a local bridal salon and try a few on and see what you think.
  • Stephie is wise.  I also like the idea of a pretty comb or fascinator instead of a veil, your dress is just so pretty that I would think a veil might kind of compete too much with it.

But trying on veils never hurts either.  I'm wearing one because I have always wanted to, and this is my only chance.  But it's only staying on for the ceremony.

  • I am going to purchase the hair extenstions you were raving about also.  My hair is just past my shoulders but it fine and thin.  I'm hoping I have as good of luck as you did.

Part of me leans towards wanting a veil.  A 2 teir finger tip length  ivory beauty with thick lace edging.  But it's my 2nd wedding and vegas, so maybe that's too much.  I have never tried a birdcage on, but honestly, they look like they might drive me crazy being in my eyes.
  • I love the Sally extensions I wear--I haven't found anything I like better.  They style great.

I personally am not a birdcage fan but lots of girls are.  I like it with a side ponytail.  This was my second wedding too and like I said, I didn't plan to wear a veil until I tried one on.  But you could wear one for the ceremony and then get a fun fascinator for the reception.  Then you would have the best of both.
  • Don't NOT wear a veil just because this is your second wedding. I'd take the PP advice in going to try some different styles on. You'd be surprised at how different you may feel once it's on. Keep an open mind & go with what you like.

I think your dress is stunning, so I agree with the PP that said maybe a sparkly comb or something from Etsy, but I'm also not personally a fan of veils/birdcages.
