How far out should I schedule a hair trial?

I did mine about 1.5 months prior to the wedding. Some people like to do their hair trial on the day of their shower or bachelorette party so their hair/make-up (if you're doing a make-up trial) is done nicely for the shower or what not. I didn't do that and just scheduled it for a time I would be in town.

I would probably do it at least 3 or 4 weeks ahead of time so if you don't like it, you have the opportunity to find another style that works for you and possibly go back for another trial if you think it's necessary.

Well, considering most will not hold your date without a deposit, why wait?  What if you wait till a few weeks before your wedding and the person you wanted is booked?  Or, if they are free, what if you hate it and the stylist just doesn't "get" what you want?  You don't want to have to scramble to find someone new weeks before your wedding.

I'm doing mine this weekend - wedding is 9/22.  This is the best time for my MOH to come into town to do both hair and makeup.   I wasn't as concerned with how far in advance but just getting it scheduled.  Doing it now means less to do as the wedding gets closer.
