Professional Makeup - Amount of Time

So I'm getting airbrushing done for myself, regular makeup for my MOH and MOB.  I emailed my makeup artist to ask how much time we should schedule for makeup to be done on the day of, she said 1 HOUR 45 MINUTES FOR ME!  And 35 minutes for each of them!!!

Does anyone else think that's WAY too much time?!  That's going to throw my schedule WAY off.  And it's just the girl by herself, no assistants to do MOH and MOB while I'm getting airbrushed.

Anyone been airbrushed before, does it really take that long??

That does not sound right at all.  I wonder if she meant 1 hour 45 minutes total.  My airbrush trial took no more than 45 minutes and she said it would take about 30 minutes the day of my wedding.

  • I wish that's what she meant, but she specifically said 1 hour 45 minutes for you, the bride and 35 minutes each for MOB/MOH.  I will talk to her more about it at the trial I guess, I'm just thinking I have a lot to do that day and you want to take up 3 hours of my time?!?  Too bad she didn't mention that before I paid the deposit :/

My makeup and hair both took two hours TOTAL.  And my hair (which included putting in my veil and comb), took much more time than my airbrushed makeup.  I can't imagine my makeup took more than 45 minutes.

I would say 35 minutes for the BMs is right.
  • I emailed her and she said that's the outset amount of time and it comes downdepending on how "glam" I want to be... and of course I want fake eye lashes and dramatic makeup, LOL.  Oh well, I'm going to wait to find out at the makeup trial.  I think she's just trying to make it so we don't run out of time.
  • I had false eyeslashes and my makeup was pretty dramatic.

She might be talking about allowing that amount of time for the trial so that you can talk about what you want, etc.--my hair and makeup trial was 3 hours.  So in that case, it makes sense.  But either way, you will have a better idea after the trial.
