Hair and Make up appointment

The wedding ceremony is at 6pm, and I'm planning on getting my hair and makeup done at a salon  - any thoughts on how long before the ceremony I should have this done?

I would allow 2 hours for the appointment.  So back up from 6:00--when do you have to be there (like for pictures), how long will it take to get there, where are you getting dressed (you'll need to allow 15 minutes or so for dressing). etc. 

My ceremony was at 7 but I had to be ready for the reveal at 4:30.  My appointment was for 2:00 and I ended up being a little rushed at the end.  I would definitely have padded the time a little more if i could do it over.  So err on the side of earlier rather than later.

Stephie definitely has the right idea! My ceremony isn't until 6:00 but we are starting pictures at 3:30 and it's going to take an hour each for my makeup and hair (and with two different people at two different locations).

My hair appointment is for 11:00 a.m. and my makeup appointment is for 1:30. That will give me time to eat and take my time getting ready and still make it to our location for pictures on time.

I did what Stephie suggested--work backwards from your ceremony start time. fwiw though, I had a 5 pm start time with a 9 am hair appointment. I applied my own makeup starting at 1:30 pm, with pictures starting at 2:30 pm.

one thing you'll want to think about--eat and brush your teeth BEFORE you have your makeup applied. that way, the food and brushing don't mess up your makeup.
