Winter skin

hey ladies I need some winter skin help. I lived in ft lauderdale/Miami my whole life and I never had any problems with my skin other than the occasional dry day. This summer I moved to ny and now that cold weather has come in my skin is not happy with me. I feel like it's red and blotchy looking, it feels so dry all the time even though I have upped my water intake to about 10 glasses a day and use my normal Mary Kay creams at night and lighter mostureizer during the day. I also have like 4-5 pimples which is weird for me, I never has any even when I was a teenager. Does anyone change their skin routine for the winter and if so what do you use? I am also vegan so the products I use are a little limited. Thanks!

Re: Winter skin

  • Are you exfoliating?  That should help (:

Dry skin can cause breakouts in adults- the flakes clog your pores, so exfoliating can help all your issues, I think.

Using a clarisonic (or a knock off like mine) with your facewash might be a good idea- gentle exfoliation and you know there's no issue with the product (vegan-wise)
  • Oh wow thank you so much - that sounds like it could really help my skin and maybe is the cause of my problems. I'm gonna try and buy one today

Hope it does help!  It always brightens me up in the winter (:
  • I also use MK products.  I don't have to change my routine for my face very much for winter, just my hands.

I use the MK Intense Moisturizing cream at night (I have dry skin).  One time when I had a gylcolic peel, I had an area that peeled for a month and the only thing that helped it was the MK Extra Emoillent Night Cream--which is supposed to be for your hands, elbows, etc. but it is the only thing that healed that one area on my face.  So if you have just a patch or two that won't stop flaking, you might try that as a spot treatment (but I wouldn't use it on my whole face).
