foundation reaction?

Hi everyone,
I went the other day looking to invest in some new makeup for my wedding and had my makeup done at Sephora. I actually saw an earlier post with someone that had a similar experience that I did. I usually don't wear any foundation and I tried the smashbox primer with Makeup Forever - looked great from far away and i'm sure would be great in pics but just up close looked sooo "make-upy" and was not a fan.

On top of this about 5 hours after wearing it I started to get itchy - the next morning I washed my face a 2nd time (1st before bed of course) and my skin was still itchy and a little red but I was fine by the afternoon. Does this sound like I had some reaction to the primer or foundation formula or could it just be that I generally don't wear anything except for a moisturizer and it dried out my skin?

Anyway I would love any suggestions for a long lasting foundation that does not look very "make-upy" - I guess I only need light-medium coverage to even out my skin tone.

Re: foundation reaction?

  • Maybe your face isn't used to it...
I use MUFE and I LOVE it... but I have been using heavy foundation for years and years and years. I guess maybe it does look a little heavy, but I have a horrible complexion and the bean dip look is preferable to the pizza face look for me.

However, I did try a primer one time awhile back that made me break out SO bad. I use other primers, and that was the only one that did it to me. I'm pretty sure they don't even make that primer anymore.
  • Maybe it was my post you saw? If not, I had the same experience as you with the MUFE HD.

I ended up getting Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra 24h- It's slightly dewier than what I want for our pictures, but I think I'll just knock it down a bit with powder and blotting papers.

A close second for me was Clarins Everlasting foundation, but the Lancome had a shade that was better for my skin.

Good luck! Figuring out a foundation was one of the toughest wedding chores I had to do :/
