Happy Weekend!

Brrrrrr!  Headed out to look at some houses this morning.  Then we're coming home for a nice long nap, LOL.

I hope everyone has a blast at Wendi's wedding tonight!  Someone needs to post some pics.  Srsly.

  • Hi!

I need to find my camera charger because I know the battery is almost dead.

I am also leaving here to go dress shopping in about 10 minutes! Yay!

  • Hello!

Its the weekend, freezing, but mood is wonderful!  Did pre-valentines day date last night with FI which included that new scary movie Woman in Black, which was great.

Don't know if I'm going to take a nap or look for bridesmaid dresses. Enjoy your weekend!

  • :/  I took the dress I wanted to wear tonight to the cleaners, and H just went to get it and they said they'd had to send it back because it still had a big stain on it.  =(

  • Sorry for my 1st post being a P&R... just got back from looking at houses.  We started off with the house that's already preliminarily under contract (the one I posted the kitchen pics of).  BEAUTIFUL house and we wanted to see it to potentially put a back-up offer on it.  Realtor had us jump in her car to take us to two other houses.  Got back and homeowners of the beautiful house left me a lovely note on my car stating how disrespectful I was for parking too close to their home (on a public street, mind you) while we went to look at other houses.  Nice.

Amanda -- Sorry about your dress.  That sucks. :(  Did you have anything else you could wear tonight?

Crash -- I know you were flaming your house yesterday.  Are things looking any better today?

  • Went for a long run at White Rock, and then met with and booked a ceremony musician! YAY! And then went to Times Ten Cellar to check out potential RD venue, and now I am about to take my belated post-run nap.
Guess I will have to Skype with FI later.....

OMG. That's crazy 1) that they'd be offended by that at all, since like you say -- it's a public street -- and I for one am used to having neighbors or strangers park in front of my house. That's life.

And 2) that would make me NOT want to put in an offer, for fear of how troublesome they'd be during negotiations...although I'd still consider it. If if were the potential future <em>neighbors</em> that left me a note like that ... no way.

This exactly.  FI said I was taking it too far but I'd really seriously have to consider it now.  When we saw it, I would have put an offer on the spot but now, I'm just really not sure that I want to deal with them at all.  And I completely agree that if it had been a neighbor, I would have scrapped the idea of buying the house altogether.  FFS, it's a public street!!!!   Their house isn't on the market anymore, there are no signs out front that I was blocking the view of, and my car is by far not an eyesore.

The best part is that they <em>assumed</em> we had left to look at "other houses."  Did we?  Yes.  But we were also planning on discussing and working on the back-up offer paperwork.  What if all we had done was go down the street to Starbucks to fill out and sign the paperwork and you left me that damn note?  As their listing agent, I'd be mortified.

</div><div>Sorry I haven't responded. I was busy all yesterday then it was time to get ready for Wendi's wedding. </div><div>Where to start? </div><div>Yesterday, FI and I took out the cabinets on the bottom and got all the molding off the top cabinets. When FI's parent's got here it took one tug to get the top cabinets off.  I was going to go out after the wedding with Courtney but then FI said we were going to paint and so I didn't want to stay out too late. I walk in the door..and it's ALL DONE. The refrigerator opens and everything. I may have cried. </div><div>
</div><div>As far as my dryer that was on fire...we called an electrician out here because the appliance installer said we weren't grounded. The electrician checked the plug and there was nothing wrong with it. So he popped off the panel to the dryer and the installer had wired the dryer wrong!  He had the ground wire on the "hot" connector! </div><div>
</div><div>We're going to start saving for all new cabinets (at least boxes..I kind of like the fronts if we stain them instead of having them painted white.) The one's in there are just so cheap. </div><div>
    </div>

  • Kathleen -- oh wow, you're kidding about the installer on your W/D, right?  Holy.crap.  At the same time, though, its good that it was something that "simple" and not a bigger issue that would have been more difficult and expensive to fix.  That whole incident would have freaked me out.

Were the cabinets new or did the flip company just paint them?  Just curious.  Depending on the type of house we purchase, we may have to install new cabinets as well and I have no idea what they cost.  Ha, I would have cried if I had come home and all that stuff was done, too!  :)

</div><div>I think the fronts were original. The boxes I don't know. The bottom cabinets I think were added later because they are particle board vs. real wood.</div>

Bahaha might as well be. This is what happens with FI is out of town. I make delightful treats and then eat too many and pass out on the couch.
