Ring Question

So I think I found my wedding band but I have been wondering all week if I should get it sautered to my engagement ring or not? Another thing I am wondering that might be an issue is that my e-ring is from Helzberg but the wedding band will be from Zales. We have the warranty on the e-ring and would be getting it for the one at Zales and I wouldn't want it to be voided or something like that. Does anyone have any experience or advice on this?

Personally I won't be getting mine sautered.  If something goes wrong with either ring and you have to get a new one, I don't know what happens then.  Regardless, working in a health care environment in the future, I may just wear my wedding band to work and not my e-ring as the band will be mostly flat but the e-ring has a higher setting.  Those are my thoughts!

For the warranty issue, you may want to call each of them and ask their policies on it. Some places, even sautering the ring voids the warranty.  When you add in a second vendor, it may void it as they could refuse to clean the other companies ring with yours each year (a general stipulation of warranties)

For sautering, I think it depends on your preference and the overall setting.  For my ring, if I don't sauter it together, there will be a gap where my halo setting juts out some.  I just hated the look of it.  I am a little sad that if I want it done for the wedding, I have to give my ring up for a few days to have done.

You need to talk to the Jewerly store about this and ask a few different ones (because it's a chain). In your case I would say don't do it. It would probably make your warrant void and it's not worth it.

I'm doing it because I have a tendence to lose things and my bands are thin. Plus I don't see myself not wearing my engagement ring. It's heavy and it's so noticable when I don't have it on. I got both the wedding band and e-ring from Jared's and I know the warrant will stand.

I am not sautering mine together because I want to have the option of not wearing my e-ring when doing sports, working out or traveling (on mission trips, b/c theyre usually 3rd world countries). I love my E-ring and I wear it everyday (of course!) but you never know when it might not be appropriate.

I am having mine soldered but they came from the same store so I am not much help.  Mine is also custom made with a notch so that the diamond on the side doesn't leave a gap in between the rings.

Thanks for all the help. I will make several calls and continue to think it over. But it looks like I will keep them separate.

I got my wedding band and engagement from different stores.  The band was from Zales.  The lady told me if you put them together the Zales warrenty will take over for both rings because they will no longer be able to tell which ring it was for.  I haven't double checked her...but hope this helps.

I am also having mine done. Since both rings are from the same location, and they are both made of white gold. Our jewerler warned that if we did not have this done, then the rings are likely to rub against each other, ruining the metal finish.

I got 2 bands for my wedding band because my ring looked funny with just one. I went ahead and soldered one band to the ring and left one unsoldered. I prefer the one that is soldered because the other turns and drives me crazy! I am thinking about soldering the other one on too :)
