Pearly Whites?

Has anyone had great success with teeth whitening products?  I want to start whitening my teeth so that they can be super white on my weddind day but I don't want to waste my money...
Which brand is the best?

  • When is your wedding? Use extra baking soda with your tooth paste, cut down on coffee, soda, tea and red wine (or use a straw) and bump up the number of times you brush a day with a whitening tooth paste. It will take longer to take effect, but it's all natural and much cheaper (save on procedures and lattes and nights out! haha)

I've had success with the Crest strips, but if you have sensitive teeth, it may hurt and make them more sensitive

Before brushing, I swish with peroxide for about a minute, then brush with baking soda. Then I brush with my normal whitening toothpaste.

Like others have said, the whitening strips hurt. If you want a whitening product, I would go for a gel that you have to apply.
  • I've used peroxide as well as Crest Whitening Toothpaste. Works good for me!
  • My sister works in a dental office and got me whitening gel/trays as her gift to me. I guess they worked okay, but I can't imagine shelling out money for them when I feel like the above posters suggestions will work just as well.

  • I began to try the crest advanced white strips but after just 4 of the 20, I was definitely feeling sensitivity already.  I had gotten sick so I stopped using them and now I am contemplating going back.  I have been drinking coffee through a straw (I tried giving it up, didnt happen! lol) and using whitening toothpaste with a good listerine rinse.  Does the sensitivity with the crest strips go away for those of you who have used them?
  • I also have extremely sensitive teeth, but I've had amazing results with just half of a 20-day crest whitestrips routine. Even FI has noticed. I combat the sensitivity in two ways: (1) Only doing the strips every other day and (2) Doing them when I get home from work, so the sensitivity kicks in while I'm sleeping (so I don't notice it as much).

  • I also used the Crest Whitstrips.  I only used them for 5 days and saw a difference and I wished I had done them sooner.
  • I have used White Strips on and off for over 10 years. When I moved to college and had to go to a new dentist, he asked how long ago I had my teeth professionally bleached. I told him, nope, only done White Strips, and he could not tell the difference!
I've had another dentist since then tell me that he stopped doing the professional bleaching because most people could/should just do white strips at home, and the professional bleaching is too severe for the same result.
  • I had Zoom done at my dentist's office in 2009 and my teeth are still really white.

Good ideas! I think I will start using them again and try every other day!
