how to conceal a black fingernail

I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience in hiding a bruised nail that is growing out. My left thumb was smashed in an accident a few months ago, and so my thumbnail is about half black and very noticeable. You could say it sticks out like a sore thumb (ha!) and as you know, a bride's hands are on display at her wedding.

My wedding is coming up in a few weeks, and I have been trying different methods of concealment. Nail polish does not work. I have tried many varieties and colors, but none of the lighter colors are opaque enough to effectively conceal the dark bruising underneath, even with multiple coats. I have even tried layering nude tones over white, and so forth, but that doesn't work, either. I refuse to have my nails painted black (or dark blue, or purple, or whatever) for my wedding -- that's just not my style.

I have had some luck with Sally Hansen nail polish strips, but they seem to come only in wacky and bright patterns or colors, which defeats the purpose of making my thumb not stand out. I am planning the rest of my nails to have a French manicure, so a pale pink or nude would be ideal. Has anyone used the Incoco nail polish strips?
