Eyebrow Threading vs. Waxing

I usually get my eyebrows waxed every once in awhile and was thinking about started to thread.  I usually have to pluck every day because I have little hairs that grow at different rates.  I like waxing because I grow them out and they get rid of everything.  The only thing I don't like about waxing is I sometimes breakout because the area that gets waxed becomes super oily. For those of you who have done threading before, is threading the same as plucking or is it more like waxing?

Re: Eyebrow Threading vs. Waxing

  • Stop plucking so much.  Leave your eyebrows alone for a month (seriously.  no plucking) and the hairs will be able to get on a better growth cycle, and you can pluck once a week or less.  When you are constantly plucking at every little hair, everything gets out of whack.

    what she said.

I used to have to pluck every couple of weeks. then I stopped for a while, let them grow in a bit. now I pluck every couple of months since the hairs are on the same growth cycle now.

  • I used to wax & did not love the breakouts. I tried threading and I liked it alot! It lasted much longer then waxing. I am trying to leave my brows alone for awhile to let them grow a bit. My MOH is also a professional tech and begs me not to wax-she is not a fan at all!

  • I prefer threading.  It looks more natural, lasts longer and no redness.  Also no chance of a reaction or being allergic to the wax!

  • I usually have my brows waxed and pluck in between.  I tried threading once and it took everything I had not to beg her to stop.  It hurt SO bad!  Waxing isn't the best in the world either but I can take that.  From reading what the others had to say about threading it makes me think that I didn't have the right person do it.  But it hurt so bad that I'm afraid to even try again.  Definitely don't want to pay for that much pain.  LOL!  I think I'll stick with waxing.  The only problem is finding a person who really knows how to make it look good since my brows grow in funny.
Maybe you should try threading to see if you really like it or not, but just go to someone who really knows what they are doing.  Suggestion....NOT a vendor in the local mall.  Laughing
  • Neither!

I really feel that electrolysis is the way to go - a 1 1/2 year investment - and no more waxing,  plucking, threading - ever again!

I had mine done about 10 years ago - and I am so glad I did.

Look into it - it is worth the money!
  • Threading is the best technique for eyebrows out there....... nothing shapes the eyebrows like threading :)
  • I think threading give a better shape to the brow but it feels like hell.
  • i LOVE threading and have followed my threader from salon to salon for 10 years. my friend calls it "miracle brow." i'm not going to lie, it doesn't feel *good* while she's doing it. but over the years my ginormous bushy eyebrows have grown in thinner and thinner, so i no longer have a monobrow. you can find someone to do it cheaply at a nail salon, but i go to a slightly nicer salon where it is $15 and she does a much better job at tailoring the eyebrow for your face. at the nail salons i feel like they give everyone the same eyebrows, regardless of the shape of your face.

i am highly allergic to waxing. i did it 3 times and every time the reaction got worse. i also tried sugaring at a nice salon but that was no match for my thick eyebrows.

  • you guys have convinced me I am definitely going to try threading because waxing always makes me breakout and i can never get any shape whent they do them. One question on the threading, do they trime the hair as well? that is one thing I always made sure they did when I got waxed because my eyebrows get long. anyway just curious.

  • I'm on the threading bandwagon as well.   As long as I have access to a threader, wax will never touch my face again!
  • I'm firmly in the threading camp. I've had my eyebrows waxed twice in my life. I was burned broke out from the additives the first time and got burned the second.

Yes, they will trim your eyebrows. The woman who does mine brushes them upwards and sometimes trims them a bit, sometimes not. But they always look amazing. But make sure you tell them not to go too thin. I don't like how sometimes they make them really thin, but just talk to the person doing it. And give it a try a couple times before the wedding.
  • I really prefer waxing. I tired this place out and got my eyebrows and a brazilian, The wax doesnt have those white strips which was nice, the wax just hardened and they pulled it off.

I swear it was as damn near painless as you will get would deifnitely recommend them.

I am middle eastern and have tried threading because it is so common, and have had irritation with it in the past.
