Airbrush vs. regular makeup

Can someone please tell me what the major differences are and the pros/cons of either? I know with airbrush that they spray the foundation on, but which lasts longer? My wedding is in July and my skin is oily.

Thanks! :)

Re: Airbrush vs. regular makeup

  • Airbrush is lightweight while still providing great coverage, is long lasting and photographs beautifully. I always recommend it.
  • Airbrushing provides more even coverage without using a ton of makeup.  It lasts longer and photographs very nicely.  You will need less touching up, but you will pay more for airbrushing.  It blends alot nicer too!

  • I had an airbrush trial & washed it off for her to try again with conventional make up application. The airbrushing made every fine line on my face more pronounced. Make sure you do a trial first.
  • I have oily skin, and I had a trial with airbrush makeup. It was amazing. It lasted about 14 hours. My skin looked a little shiny after 6 hours, so I just used clean and clear oil absorbing strips (which I have to use with regular makeup regardless). My biggest positive comment is that it didn't "melt off" like regular makeup does (even with primer) b/c of my oily skin. Definitely do a trial, but chances are you'll love it!

  • For a wedding, I'd definitely go with airbrush makeup!!! It lasts longer, doesn't look cakey, and provides great coverage while still looking natural.

  • you can try looking at youtube reviews on airbrush make-up before and afters...there are a BUNCH of really good ones. i was going to copy and paste a link for you, but there are so many! airbrush has that flawless look.
  • It's worth a try. I decided I did not care for airbrush makeup and used liquid foundation instead. I didn't think it looked any better or lasted better, so I saved my money. I also DIY'd my makeup.
  • I'm going with airbrush makeup. I've heard nothing but positive things, and every bride I've seen who has done it has looked awesome.
  • Thanks! :) Airbrush it is!

  • I'm a little late to the party but I am jumping on airbrush only because it's my one big day. I bought some stuff to DIY (MUFE HD primer, foundation, hd powder) and was all for it. Until my original hair artist fell through. So I am using a duo make up and hair and they do faux lashes and airbrush. The photos I have seen of their work is amazing.

  • Is it hard to DIY Airbrush makeup? The price of Airbrush makeup in Indianapolis for myself and 3 Bridesmaids is $500 and I have dry skin. Does it work well with dry skin? I have a birth mark on my cheek and regular foundation just does not stay on and keep it covered.
  • I just had an airbrushing trial today and yes, it looks awesome in pictures. In real life I think it's awful. I normally have great skin and really no lines... Or so I thought until the airbrushing! It shows every line, bump, and pore, and my skin looks dry not healthy as it normally does. I actually had her remove from under my eyes, I feel like the stuff made me look like a plastic mannequin and 10 years older! I don't want to just look good in my pics, I want to look good in real life. My 2cents, I'm definitely doing another trial without it.

Airbrushing, when done correctly, allows for more coverage with a lighter makeup application. Therefore you have the proper coverage for the pictures and lighting but you don't look like you face planted in makeup in person.

HOWEVER, like all makeup types, it's not for everyone. Most makeup artists offer packages which include trials so I would definitely recommend doing that to see which one works best for you.

I personally prefer airbrushing. I love the way it feels when applied, I love that my skin feels light and refreshed, and I love the coverage. But it's just what works for me.
